Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.4 is now available

Oh my, already 24 pages long thread. Too much to read through. :P So, what's the verdict? Is it safe to update from 386.3_2, or have critical bugs been discovered now that it's released to the public? (Nothing too fancy here, OpenVPN server, OpenVPN client (mullvad) and NextDNS cli installed)

Solved What is expected speeds on AX86U with OpenVPN?

I didn’t mention any other devices in my original post. Should have made that more clear. Thanks for chiming in :)

Solved What is expected speeds on AX86U with OpenVPN?

@John Fitzgerald By "my network" I mean my home network, I thought that was obvious, what other network would I be writing about? My home network runs on ax86u. I have several devices connected to it which are not connected to any sort of vpn. And when I am openvpn-ing into my own home network...

ASUS RT-AX68U vs RT-AC68U. Worth the Upgrade?

Hmmm... maybe we should ask @thiggins to do a comparison between the AC86, AX68, AX86 and AX88 :D

ASUS RT-AX68U vs RT-AC68U. Worth the Upgrade?

IIRC the ax68u is basically the ac86u but with Wifi6, isn't that correct? So ac86u's hardware which is loads better than the ac68u, but without the ax86u's bells and whistles. I'd say it's a good buy!

Asus RT-AX86U VPN Speeds with NordVPN or Any Other VPN Service

@sl4fko Home country and neighboring countries. OpenVPN is just not made for high speeds it seems :) @Tech9 Incompatible for now but fixable, or completely incompatible by design and will never get around it? 350mbps is better than 200, but still... was hoping to approach 800 like I can...

Suggestion: Ability to specify DNS servers per VPN Client on the router

Like the title says, if one could specify the VPN-service's own DNS servers directly on the VPN Client settings page on the router, instead of under DHCP-settings which Mullvad requires, then my other devices which are not going through the VPN tunnel on the home network wouldn't be forced to...

Solved What is expected speeds on AX86U with OpenVPN?

What do you mean counterproductive? Aiprotect protects my network while i tunnel into it remotely :) or is there something about aiprotect i dont understand?

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.4 beta is now available

What does "end-user or third party usage" mean? Isn't that us, basically? ie I am an end-user and I set it up with say Mullvad VPN (third party usage)? Forgive me if this is obvious to all of you. :) Or does 386.4 just lay the groundwork for future Wireguard server and client for regular users...

Help! VPN Director and Mullvad VPN forcing all computers to use Mullvad DNS

I did what you suggested, but sadly it doesn't work. Both my real IP and DNS-servers are exposed when I enable the option Exclusive and add... dhcp-option DNS 193.138.218.74 dhcp-option DNS 10.8.0.1 ... to the bottom of custom config with remote IP set to 193.138.218.74. I even tried just...

Solved What is expected speeds on AX86U with OpenVPN?

I tried with and without AIProtect, and a reboot inbetween. Made no difference. I'm actually just curious what the expected speeds are on OpenVPN running on the AX86U router itself, and not troubleshooting why I may have lower speeds, but thanks for assisting anyways :) Is the expected speeds...

Solved What is expected speeds on AX86U with OpenVPN?

Solved: 250/250 is about maximum what the AX86U can do with OpenVPN, due to OpenVPN being single-core only. Higher VPN speeds will require Wireguard, which is multi-core and currently in beta testing for 386.5. Original post: I tried searching snbforums and googling, but I can't find a very...

Help! VPN Director and Mullvad VPN forcing all computers to use Mullvad DNS

But where would I put the 10.8.0.1? Under DHCP --> DNS? Or as a "push dhcp-option" under custom config? Mullvad lists the 10.8.0.1 as DNS server 2, not 1, so that has me thinking it might not be their primary DNS? See attached photo. I'm just guessing here.

Asus RT-AX86U VPN Speeds with NordVPN or Any Other VPN Service

Hmm.. rather dissapointing speeds, no? I have 1gbps fiber cabled. Without VPN I get 950/950. With Mullvad VPN Wireguard on the mac I get 850/850, but with Mullvad on Ax86U through VPN Director I get 200/200. I'm not home so I can't test Mullvad OpenVPN app on the Mac right now, but will in a...

Help! VPN Director and Mullvad VPN forcing all computers to use Mullvad DNS

I understand. I now set it to Disabled, and it is not leaking, it shows mullvad dns servers. I dont know why it was acting weird a moment ago. I do want the router to be the one giving my mac the dns server and not me typing them directly into the Mac, like you said. How do I do that, since...

Help! VPN Director and Mullvad VPN forcing all computers to use Mullvad DNS

Hmm, but when I set it to Relaxed, then my ISP DNS servers show up on dns leak test, and when I set it back to Exclusive, Mullvads DNS servers show instead. I'd much rather have my router do it, since I trust that more (just a gut feeling). Why does setting the VPN client to Relaxed leak my ISP...

Help! VPN Director and Mullvad VPN forcing all computers to use Mullvad DNS

I use https://www.dnsleaktest.com to verify. I'm as you probably understand not an expert, so me defining a leak is laughable at best, but I consider it as dnsleaktest.com showing my ISPs DNS servers instead of mullvads servers. But... I think I may actually have solved it, with lots of help...

Help! VPN Director and Mullvad VPN forcing all computers to use Mullvad DNS

Thanks for helping! It didn't work, sadly. See attached photo for settings. I did what you said, I removed Mullvad DNS servers under DHCP, set "Accept DNS Configuration" to "Exclusive" and set the push-command dhcp option under Custom Configuration push "dhcp-option DNS 193.138.218.74" push...
