I hope they are paying you what you are worth. I know what it's like to be busy and/or overwhelmed.

Possible to use OpenVPN client for some of the network, not all? (RT-AC66U)

Frustrating. I'm having times where the port trigger isn't working, and I've had to turn the OpenVPN client slider off temporarily to use my Shrew VPN client to connect to the WatchGuard firewalls at work. This is somewhat frustrating. I need a consistent solution, and I really don't want...

Possible to use OpenVPN client for some of the network, not all? (RT-AC66U)

I figured it out. Rather than making large exceptions, I made a port trigger for the TCP port my VPN client uses. This bypasses the OpenVPN client settings and lets either my home or work laptop VPN out to my work sites without issue. If I need some additional programs through, I'll do it as...

Possible to use OpenVPN client for some of the network, not all? (RT-AC66U)

Hi everyone, I have a dilemma. I have a VPN service which I have tested successfully in the OpenVPN client section of my ASUS RT-AC66U using the latest Merlin firmware (374.43). The problem (not unexpected) is that I cannot use my laptop to IPSec VPN into my firewalls at work when OpenVPN is...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.39 is out

The file is showing now. I had tried more than one browser. Odd. All's well that ends well. I'm upgrading now.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.39 is out

Hopefully I'm not asking a question that's been beat to death (new job, been living under a rock), but was the .39 release pulled for the RT-AC66? I see it for download for the RT-AC68, and the RT-N56, but the AC66 listed build is still on 38.2.

    RT-N66U .352 Beta firmware

That would be because in some cases, the firmware is designed to work across the N66/AC66 models, and I had been led to believe (though I didn't note it here) that someone else had done so successfully based on another thread elsewhere. As it didn't for me, I figured I'd note it to prevent...

    RT-N66U .352 Beta firmware

Note: For those that might have wandered in with AC66 routers and found this thread, I have found in my case that the RT-AC66R won't even load this firmware; it indicates it is incorrect. Also note that when I've tried (from a wired connection), right after it gives the error message, wifi...

    RT-AC66U - Disappointing so far...

My first modem was my 24/96 fax modem installed in my Packard Bell 10MHz Turbo XT, but my first good modem was my 14.4k external USR Sportster. ProComm, then Terminate. Before that, I played with the Commodore 64, Apple II, TRS-80 a little, and the TI99-4/A. Just didn't do any BBS stuff with them.

    RT-AC66U - Disappointing so far...

Thus the other portion of my quote: P.S. As the owner of a USR Courier 16.8k HST Dual Standard back in the day (prior to my Courier V.Everything), I totally remember proprietary standards --even before the V.FAST debacle you mentioned above. :)

    RT-AC66U - Disappointing so far...

If a company is selling draft-AC products, mightn't you be someone who wants to use draft-AC features/speeds in the current mode that they are advertised/sold in? To me, quality control means multiple things: -Design of hardware/software should meet vendor-advertised functionality and...

    Intel 3945ABG stomps 2.4GHz connection to RT-AC66 - ideas?

Side hobby: I repair broken laptops and upgrade them sometimes as well for fun. I have one with a pretty normal Intel 3945ABG wifi card in it at the moment. In the house, I have the RT-AC66R, and I have a Buffalo WLI-TX4-AG300N wireless bridge for the SO's desktop and our color laser. I have...

The BEST modem to be connected to ASUS RT-AC66U

I can only speak for what I've used --and for that, if you're using cable, I've found Motorola's first DOCSIS 3 modem, the (now-discontinued) SB6120 has worked very well. I've heard that people with newer Motorola variants haven't had the same success, but that the 6120 has been fine...

    Is a solution for port-forwarding < 1024 coming for the RT-AC66U

RMerlin is correct. I enabled Telnet access to my router, and ran those commands via Telnet in. I also have AiCloud disabled. I'd like to play with it, but until ASUS officially makes the AiCloud port changeable (which on a $200 router, should have happened out of the gate --it's an...

    RT-AC66R - BestBuy's version of the RT-AC66U

Have you disabled the wireless on your Actiontec modem? I would do this to ensure there is no interference with the ASUS router.

RT-AC66U forgets time & date during reboot

I had to switch to pool.ntp.org and apply to get a date update. Not my preferred setup, but it will do for now.

RT-AC66U forgets time & date during reboot

I just upgraded my firmware; same issue. It's been at least five minutes since the reboot and despite my having a properly configured NTP server (time-b.nist.gov), I'm still at December 31, 2010. I also don't see a way to manually adjust the date.

FW 3.0.0.4.270 at Asus download site

In for a penny, in for a pound. I just upgraded mine from .266; we'll see what happens.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.270.24 BETA 4 is out

RMerlin, perhaps a dumb question: Does upgrading from stock firmware to yours wipe out existing configuration settings? I know in the case of most custom firmwares the answer is yes, but as yours is based on ASUS' existing firmware, I didn't know if this was the case or not. I just need...

    DDNS and dyndns

I wish I'd known that a month ago. My ASUS router continues to seem like amazing hardware hampered by a small handful of really dumb software decisions where the firmware is concerned.
