Asuswrt-Merlin is now 10 years old!

Congratulations and thanks for all your work. Unfortunately, I'm no longer using my AT-AC68U as I'm with my folks now hooked into their AT&T Router and didn't see a good reason to connect the router to that one... Hopefully someday I'll get my own place again and can use it again. Happy...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

On my RT-AC68U went from 384.19 to 386.1_beta1 (dirty flash) and it looks like the intermittent traffic spike is back. I do not have hardware acceleration enabled. All handled by the CPU:

Traffic Monitor No Data in Daily & Monthly

It creates the data in a file like `tomato_rstats_(numbers & letters).gz` in whatever directory you told it in Tools->Other Settings. Also, make sure you are checking "Create or reset data files: Enable if using a new location" to make it create/re-create the database. You might also want to...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

Yeah.. well, I tried to do a Health Scan of my USB drive and it stalled at the unmounting process. I then rebooted the router via the GUI and it came back with a disconnected internet. I then power-cycled the router and got the internet back and the health scan of the USB drive worked this...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

    I just started noticing these lines repeating in my syslog with my RT-AC68U: Apr 7 06:43:58 check_watchdog: [check_watchdog] restart watchdog for no heartbeat Apr 7 06:43:58 rc_service: check_watchdog 253:notify_rc restart_watchdog Apr 7 06:50:58 check_watchdog: [check_watchdog] restart...

    A bit off-topic

Both Firefox 74.0.1 and the Chromium based Edge (I installed it manually) went there fine without complaints. On my router I do have DoT enabled with Cloudflare and DNSSEC enabled (site doesn't support it so has no impact really).

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

On my RT-AC68U I get an A bufferbloat without QoS on this firmware version. Worst I've ever had was B so I just never bothered with it. Suppose I should test with it just to see.

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Looks like 384.16_beta1 has the Traffic Analyzer bug again where it thinks it has transmitted/received 17,179,869,180.10 GB or something. RT-AC68U. Daily: https://i.imgur.com/A4DRl5A.png 24-hour: https://i.imgur.com/laREjN1.png Now, it's only the WAN tab on the 24-hour that shows these huge...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.15 (and 384.13_4) are now available

I just tried this with Firefox 73.0.1 in Windows 10 on a RT-AC68U. I was able to click that button and then click disconnect on the drop-down and it applied the settings and went back to the Network Map page. So.. it should work. Make sure all your ad and script blockers are disabled on the...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.15 (and 384.13_4) are now available

I was testing this, and I can get to the page by either disabling DoT with DNSSEC enabled, or by leaving DoT enabled but then disabling DNSSEC. With both DNSSEC and DoT running, dig at command prompt comes back with a SERVFAIL message. So for me, in this scenario, with both DNSSEC and DoT...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 Beta is now available

For me, I have to run the HTTP version or it fails during the upload phase (might be a Firefox issue). Anyway, with 384.14 this is the first time I am getting A bufferbloat where I've always gotten a B. I do not have QoS enabled (never have). I just ran a test and got an A rating.

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 Beta is now available

Since using the 14 betas on my RT-AC68U, I've been seeing these spikes in data transfer. Since putting on beta 3, in the last 24 hour section: Note: this spike is only in the WAN section. Does not appear in the Wired or Wireless tabs. I do have NAT acceleration disabled: Anyone else...

Help configuring and testing DNS-over-TLS on 384.13

Yes. 853 is the port used by DNS over TLS.

Help configuring and testing DNS-over-TLS on 384.13

You can try going to the Network Tools menu -> Netstat Tab and click Diagnose. You should see under the Foreign Address something like one.one.one.one:853 when using Cloudflare or perhaps 9.9.9.9:853 if using Quad9.

Disabling Firefox's automatic switch to DoH

If I turn DoH on then network.trr.mode gets set to 2. With it off, the value is 0. The network.trr.max-fails value does not change. It stays 5. Don't need to go into about:config to change it. Just go to Options -> General -> Network Settings button and look for the checkbox at the bottom...

Disabling Firefox's automatic switch to DoH

Updated to 70 Release, 71 Beta, and 72 Nightly. (Yes, I have all three installed with their own profiles). Anyway, updating via the internal updater, none of them enabled DoH. Network Settings are still set to No Proxy and nothing else checked there. So, my guess is the automatic enabling...

    Disappointing DNSSEC coverage

Is this dnsmasq log enabled by default? It must not be since it doesn't exist on my router. Anyway, mine is probably skewed to more positive results since my own websites all have DNSSEC enabled on them. Used the Zone Editor in cPanel at webhost to enable DNSSEC and copied the information...

[384.14_Alpha - builds] Testing all variants.

Regarding Firefox and DoH, so far 69, 70 beta, and 71 Nightly have not flipped DoH on yet. I suspect the auto DoH might be for fresh installs and not ones done via the internal updater where you already have it off. We shall see.

    Cox HSI IPV6 on RT-AC86U

I use Cox in Oklahoma and set my RT-AC68U IPv6 Connection type to Native. My cable modem, a Cisco DPQ3212 is in the default mode from when it was installed. There's no way to set a mode on it anyway.

Disabling Firefox's automatic switch to DoH

That or it will still be a check-box option.
