    Several Questions Re:Asuswrt-Merlin Feature Implementation

Yes. Implementing SDN and integrating VPN Director with it took weeks of work just for that particular feature, on top of the rest of the 3006 GPL merges involved, and the new WIfi 7 support. Works fine in my tests, you'd have to ask users who are actually using it for more feedback. I don't...

Wireguard VPN doesn't work, buyer beware

And how are you determining that? For starter, Wireguard does not "connect". It mounts an interface, and sends traffic through that interface. If your interface or routing is misconfigured, you won't get an error message or anything. If you want people to help you fix your setup you will...

    Hi

We've had to disable a number of compromised accounts these past few months, as they were used for posting spam. Most likely caused by password reuse. I recommend contacting @thiggins with your original username if you'd like to regain the original account. He'll guide you through resetting...

    AX88U Pro Kernel Version

AlmaLinux 8 will get security updates until 2029, despite being based on kernel 4.18 which has been EOL since 2018. Bottom line: kernel version doesn't matter. Critical security fixes can still be backported if they are worth the effort. I've backported one of two of these myself for kernel...

Can an original 2022 Asus Wrt be safe?

https://www.cyber.gc.ca/en/alerts-advisories/vulnerabilities-impacting-fortinet-fortios Nothing is "safe" anymore... The only way to have a "safe" router is to secure it yourself. Limit exposure to a reliable VPN service, and use strong passwords. And apparently "SSL VPN" used by Fortinet...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 7 devices

Most of the competition will offer fewer features than Asuswrt 4.0 already offers. Why? These routers still do everything they used to do when you bought them, right? They didn`t lose any of the features that were included when you bought yours?

The command iw dev eth7 station dump reports an empty output

You should be using Broadcom's API rather than the generic Linux userspace tool. Broadcom's tool is wl.

How to enable port randomization in Asuswrt-Merlin?

I have no idea what you are talking about, sorry. Remote ends don't blindly guess what port they are connected with, that is specified in the connection handshake.

How to enable port randomization in Asuswrt-Merlin?

Linux has had UDP port randomization in the kernel since 2008.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 7 devices

Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 7 devices. The focus of this release is addressing a few issues present in 3006.102.1, as well as introducing support for two new Wifi 7 devices. Since the release of updated 3006 GPLs is being constantly delayed, I am adding support for...

Is firmware reinstallation in recovery mode deeper than on the web interface?

If it's in the firmware (highly unlikely as this is a read-only partition), then you reupload the firmware. If it's in the /jffs or nvram location, then you do a full factory default reset.

Is firmware reinstallation in recovery mode deeper than on the web interface?

That is incorrect. The firmware is written as a partition image, not as a series of files getting copied. Any method of flashing the firmware will do exactly the same thing: overwrite the partition with the content of the uploaded firmware.

    WiFi 6 disabled?

Wifi 6 is enabled by default. You will have to undo whatever you changed to re-enable it - we don't know what you changed to the default settings.
