pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

@kvic: does the pixelserv source belong in a repository? If yes, what is the most common repository it should be placed in? I did find this: https://github.com/Entware/entware but not sure that it is the repository for the packages when I type: ipkg list

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

@kvic: Sounds promising. If you would like, I could start a wiki entry for you to fill out to document your experience for the community. Let me know if this is something you would like. It sounds like you have done a lot of good work and that the evolution of documenting it from wiki -> full...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

@kvic: excellent discussion. It seems that you have deep understanding and an eye for sharpening this tool. Have you developed a script that can reproduce your success on RT-AC68U? I'm not sure if the RT-AC56U is for the purposes of this exercise the same as an RT-AC68U: they use the same...

    Entware equivalent Apps

@Zirescu: nicely done. root@ROUTER:/tmp/home/root# ipkg list | grep block moblock - 0.8-1 - Blocks connections from/to hosts listed in a file in peerguardian format. moblock may be the answer to finding the asiablock replacement

    Entware equivalent Apps

I have changed out RT-N16s (Optware) in favor RT-AC68U routers (Entware). The procedure I followed to install Entware is https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Asus_T-Mobile_Cellspot#Entware_Installation Optware has excellent apps: 1) pixelserv 2) stophammer 3) asiablock These apps are nicely...

    RT-N66U Looses WAN

Would automatic rebooting the device at 2AM every night solve this problem?

Moving to an unwired house, starting from scratch.

Lots of good advice here. Consider drawing a map of each floor and creating one large wiring diagram. The fundamental model: MODEM => ROUTER => SWITCHES (optional) => WIRING => ENDPOINTS (Ethernet jacks / APs) Your POE injector could be in SWITCHES.

    patch panel help

Why not terminate CAT5 / CAT 6 with RJ45 and connect them directly to a switch? It's easy and you can verify each connection with an Ideal Linkmaster testkit.

    Need for whole home Ethernet?

If you can run monofilament (fishing line) in addition to the cat 5, that allows you the option to pull another wire if needed.

Professional Advice on Best Performance Network Switch/Power Line Adapter for purchase

My phone lines reach into every corner of the house and were wired with CAT5 and I use 4 of the 8 conductors for 100 Megabit Ethernet. I don't really use the other 4 conductors for POTS, so I really should just rewire everything for Gigabit Ethernet.

Cabling - Long Runs - Individual runs vs. using a switch

If the real-estate is yours, then make the investment, otherwise, have you considered wireless access points strategically placed throughout the building? Wifi is nice if the building is already built and it is difficult problematic to wire-up. If the primary purpose of the network is POS...

    UMA T-Mobile Calling

Update: two other TMO handsets reported DNS errors so this morning I decided to update the DNS settings: Advance Settings => LAN => DHCP Server => DNS Server 1 = 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) This literally resolved the problem. It was challenging in that 3 of 4 handsets (Galaxy S5, S3, BBQ10)...

    RT-AC66U constantly rebooting

Is your device on a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply)? If not, there is no way to know if it is a power issue. I keep my router and modem on a UPS. Posting the logs to pastebin would provide the experts the information needed to diagnosis root cause.

    UMA T-Mobile Calling

I am running Merlin's 378.55 on a RT-AC68U that was formerly a T-Mobile Cellspot. For some reason UMA (wifi) calling is not working and the ANDROID handset indicates: Error: REG99 "unable to connect" When I took the handset to the store to reproduce the problem I did not experience this...

How to get numerical static IP ?

MODEL ======= SENDER => RECIPIENT (DDNS - Target IP Address) O-Arm => PACS SIMPLE SOLUTION ============== The simple solution is to pay the ISP for a static IP, otherwise you will need a service to update the sender's (O-arm system), when it is changed. I strongly recommend that this be...

Access control on Device basis (MAC)

Most access control is performed through username / password, but I have several devices that do not support this model. That being said, I would like to whitelist a small group of MAC IDs to allow them to access a LAN device at a static IP and drop all other traffic. I suspect that this is...

Issues with samba shares from USB drives on AC68U

I like to keep my routers / modems on UPS to protect from surges and maintain continuity of power. I find it is worth the cost. I use an WD NAS so as to keep it simple.

RDP into home network and using both wifi / ethernet

I have a box on my home LAN that is wired into my router. I have been able to remotely RDP into the box through the wired connection. I would like to be able to add a wifi adapter that could be used to connect into my neighbor's LAN, because I am frequently asked to troubleshoot. Has anyone...

A smartphone with a SIP client can be very handy. Examples CSipSimple for Android. Zoiper for IOS. I have been given iphones with shattered displays, replaced the displays and now use them a SIP handsets (among other purposes).
