[Beta 384/NG] Asuswrt-merlin 384.4 Beta is now available

I'll have to figure how how to do that, & I should be able to reproduce the issue once I figure out top Edit: that was easy, ssh & type "top"...I'll reproduce it again after the family goes to sleep. Naturally, after a day of running fine, I can't reproduce the issue :/

[Beta 384/NG] Asuswrt-merlin 384.4 Beta is now available

I'm assuming something causes the router to fail to fully go back up after changes are made. A power cycle stops this until the next change. I notice when I do make changes, the CPU goes up to 100% as opposed to being around 10%.

[Beta 384/NG] Asuswrt-merlin 384.4 Beta is now available

My RT-AC3200 has an issue where every time I change a wifi related setting, the wifi never turns back on until I remove & reapply power. I did accomplish a factory reset on it. Mar 2 20:54:08 miniupnpd[620]: No allowed eport for NAT-PMP 37370 udp->192.168.1.4:9 Mar 2 20:56:21 rc_service...

Poll: Would you buy a GT-5300 if merlin supported it?

I'm after that router mainly because of the USB performance, but won't touch it due to the reported stability issues. I'm assuming that would be fixed through Merlin.

    Asus GT-AC5300?

It's a shame they can't get that router working well, I would love it for the USB performance, but I'll stick with my 3200 for now.

Review NETGEAR EX8000 Nighthawk X6S Tri-Band WiFi Range Extender Reviewed

I'm pretty much forced to use USB because running a full computer costs bit $$$. I'm stuck in Cali for about 7 more years & PGE informed me earlier this year they're going to $0.78 a KWh with 10% annual increase. Needless to say, my $500/mo electric bill is going close to $1000 next year, &...

5TB External HDD (AC powered) not mounting ?

I had a drobo with 5 drives installed running fine with a 16TB configuration. I ended up downgrading to a 4TB & keeping my drobo on my primary server. It was formatted with EXT

    APFS

One of my thoughts to tackle my problem is to create a sparse bundle that's APFS on the network drive, much like how time machine operates. There may be a risk of the entire bundle becoming corrupt unless it splits the file up. I don't have any experience with that, but will start looking at...

    APFS

Quick question: Will Asus or anyone else add support for APFS external drives? The only reason why I'm considering this is because the ability for the FS to detect identical files & free up the space. Encryption would be nice as well.

    Asuswrt-Merlin - Project update

I'm on about 20c for now on the tiered, but we all get forced onto time of use when they do away will tiered. 25c for around 9pm-1pm, 40c from 1pm-9pm. That 40c is the double I'm looking at, & if they get hammered with being at fault for these fires, I can expect 80 real quick.

    Asuswrt-Merlin - Project update

I should also bring up the tri-band requirement to help the extender. I guess I could add a third router, but that's about another 20 watts & with my local electric provider having announced a doubling of our electric rates to help us be more power efficient, that matters. Sadly, they are...

    Asuswrt-Merlin - Project update

Argh! Could you please support the gt5300? I just want that for the USB & wifi speed for smb & computer to computer transfers...not much else.

    Asuswrt-Merlin - Project update

What would I lose by going to the GT-AC5300 without your firmware vs the RT model for example? I'm mainly looking at a triband router with the fastest usb smb server out there so I don't have to depend on a desktop.

    Crash test link

I’m crash testing out my router & am looking for a legal test file or two to download off of a torrent that has a lot of seeds. Can anyone help out there?

Since the argument for tri-band routers is bandwidth distribution....

I actually dedicate one band for my extender.

    No usb with 380.68_2

The newer NTFS drivers cause some serious issues so if you're using that, I suggest avoiding it like the plague & migrate to EXT3. I've corrupted every NTFS drive I've attached to the router. The NTFS drivers on John's build are legacy & don't have the corruption issues.

    NETGEAR Announces DIY Orbi Extender

Good question, but the problem is interference. If the radio is operating at full capacity, every channel is actually used. Your scenario would have every channel used twice, on the same board. This would wreak havoc on the network capability.

    NETGEAR Announces DIY Orbi Extender

I actually do have a tri band primary router...both the backhaul 5G & the network 5G are 1300Mbps that drops to about 780Mbps but the time my current repeater picks it up. My lowland speeds are a tad slower at around 650. Given that, I have a server set up on the primary router that benefits...

    NETGEAR Announces DIY Orbi Extender

With this, you can at least chose which channel/band you want to use as the backhaul. It demonstrates using the higher speed band as the backhaul & then using the slower speed band & 2.4GHz bands between the extended devices. In most our cases, the connected devices will bottleneck the a...
