[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I'm about to do some testing on fixes for v7 but wanted to check to see the current way to reset the nvram via buttons on the router (don't know if it has changed)...router in sig. I'm wanting this back to as far as new and no corruption due to bad settings that may still exist. As far as I...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I was unable to test it because I flat out don't want to climb in my stick to connect it to the Internet. Califonia does wierd things. I just reverted the firmware and the problem was solved. Went back and peed was an issue, can't tell the drive due to the 6 days to failure, restored old...

At what point do you just stop upgrading Merlin FW?

You'd shake your head if you worked where I did. Most of the fixes involve smart people who know workarounds to fix things. No so well in the email case...but less work for me. Microsoft updates...far more effective than China at disabling the internet. As far as backup plan...trouble ticket...

other firmware has been up to date...ususally once a year. Pro tab has only the following: 1) Frequency...to select the freq I want to view. 2) Roaming assistance...won't use due to massive instability to the network nothing else. Followon tab is the site survey tab which lets me...

At what point do you just stop upgrading Merlin FW?

Scheduled Maintenance: theory:Fixing or making something better fact at my work: Breaks everyone's work email. Per regs, all fix request outside our capability will be requested via official work email only. I've been email free for two weeks while tech requests the fix via snail mail. I'm...

igmp snooping is hidden in repeater mode. I'm using SMB, no DLNA due to reliability and controllability issues related with DLNA. I was so happy the day I turned DLNA off.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I have no Pro tab. The main AP is not an ASUS and has not been updated anytime recently. The best I can do is compare the main AP and the repeater's speedtest results and they do not match anymore. main is a solid 50mbps/5 while the repeater running this firmware is inconstant.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

For the first time with this fork, I'm probably going to be rolling back to 6. My asus 66r is running in repeater mode and since this upgrade cannot keep the usb drive connected past 6 days. It appears connected in the GUI, but is not present anywhere on the network using SMB. This can be...

    iOS 8.1 performance

Problem is iOS 8. The settings need to be reset in most cases...forget the network and then re-establish it or just reset network settings. With iOS, apple has a very small beta test group, and the software typically acts like alpha during the beta phase until much later on. Just think of iOS...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.47 is out

Does anyone know if the NTFS drivers have been fixed since they've been replaced? I had an issue where my drive would no longer mount. I did a chkdsk on it but no errors were reported. Problem may be related to having a 16TB, yes TB, not GB, hard drive connected. It worked fine with the...

    Usb hdd and power failure

I caught myself after the fact...thats why I said I'd probably only save $45 a year...cutting those off for only 6 hrs a day reduces those numbers. The digital timers are rather unreliable from what I'm finding and the analog ones use 10w of power.

    Usb hdd and power failure

I posted the exact numbers there, can't refute that. Maybe it would help if I told you I live in califonia. My bill is at $250 a month with only 1 hr max ac during the night to help he family go to sleep. First month surprise with. $450 electric bill with the ac set at 76f, and they want to...

    Usb hdd and power failure

In an attempt to no advertise, the not so impressive Drobo is what I'm using. Does the job, but slow as dirt. Anyhow, at my calculation, it will save me apps $180 per year using a kilowatt meter: 65 watts/hr (cost of router, Drobo, and drives) 1560 watt/day 46800 watt/mo 46.8 kw/mo $.32 per...

    Usb hdd and power failure

I just found out that my external has a built in battery to protect itself during a power outage...no need for UPS unless there are writes going to it. The way I use this, I don't need one apparently. I've been trying to find a way to have the router shut down for a period during the night and...

Asus locking down routers to comply with new FCC rules

You're right. They may very well require a lockdown designed very similar to what the iPhone and other devices do now.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.44 is out

Since my luck with firmware updates in the past has been so bad, when it finishes the update, what is the best method to reboot it? I've read somewhere in the forum that turning the power off then on is the best method...though not good for usb drives. I can simply dismount it before I hit the...

Strange entries in error log. 376.44

Yeay, someone else uses tapatalk. Back on topic, RMerlin is right, IPV6 tends to have download/upload slowdowns, compatibility issues, and there are plenty of servers/sites that don't use IPV6 yet. I have found zero benefits at my location and only issues: slower access to certain websites...
