    Release ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51955 (2024/11/08)

How much did you get it for? And what issue did you have with AC86U? I also just replaced AC86U with AX86U Pro. Got it on sale for €130 (final price that includes taxes). AC86U was the same price €130 at the end of 2019 when I got it during BF. If we take inflation into account, then AC86U was...

    Release ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51955 (2024/11/08)

The updates have slowed down since 2022 when it received 3 updates. Then in 2023 it received another 3 updates. And now for 2024 we have 2 updates. I'm planing to upgrade, but BE86U is double the price of AX86U Pro and it's even missing the 6GHz band. I might just go with AX86U Pro for now and...

RT-BE86U details from ASUS rep at Computex Taipei (POSSIBLE NEWS SCOOP)

Yeah, pretty disappointing for a WiFi 7 device to not have the 6GHz band, unexpected for 86U class. It now looks like a low end device, but with a high price tag. At around €350 in EU, this makes AX86U Pro seem a good deal since you can find new at half the price. I'm also not interested in more...

RT-BE86U details from ASUS rep at Computex Taipei (POSSIBLE NEWS SCOOP)

I'm looking for a new router, since at the moment I'm using AC86U. AX86U Pro launched on Amazon Germany towards the end of 2022 for €300 and 1 year later you could find it on deal for €186. Now, 2 years later the normal price is €189, but I saw it go down to €170 on some stores. If BE86U will...

RT-BE86U is mentioned on the following Asus website. https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1051375/ The price in EU might be around €350? I see it already listed on 2 websites for €344 and €357 (no stock).

    RT-AC86U new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_44470-g53bccb8

I'm not referring necessarily to the source code for the latest version, there isn't any source code at all, even for older versions, seems odd.

    RT-AC86U new firmware 3.0.0.4.386_44470-g53bccb8

Why is the Source Code section missing for this model under Driver & Tools -> Others? There's only Firmware. I thought they are legally required to provide it. For other models I checked, they do still include the GPL code.

    Ookla's resident Speedtest

What results were you getting on the router when you had 1000/100? I have a 1000 Mbps connection, but with the integrated speedtest on AC86U I usually only get around 580 Mbps with no scripts running, the highest was 750 Mbps. While in the browser I get over 900 Mbps, same server. It's probably...

    [Alpha] 386.2

New 386.2 alpha builds uploaded 1h ago. - NEW: Added jittertimer-rngd daemon to HND routers. This will ensure sufficient entropy is generated early on at boot time, reducing boot stalls caused by insufficient entropy for the kernel's random number generator, and also generally improves security...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

    I will stick with 386.1 on AC86U. The temp seems ok: 386.1 b2: 72-74°C 386.1 b3: 84°C 386.1 b5: 76-77°C 386.1 final: 76-77°C

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

AC86U updated from b2 to b5, the high CPU temp on b3-b4 seems to be fixed. b2: 73-74°C b5: 75-77°C (edit: after 5 hours the temp is 76-77°C, so 3°C higher than b2, but still a lot better than b3 which raised the temp to 84°C)

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

I will stay on 386.1 beta2 for now until the high CPU temp on AC86U is properly fixed.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

CPU temp on my AC86U is 84 °C with beta3. It's only 1 year old. CFE 1.0.0.9. Downgrading to b2 and the temp dropped to 74 °C. After a few hours on b2 it's now at 72 °C. command: pwr show Power Management Configuration Functional Block Status CPU Wait DISABLED...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

@distilled great idea, keep them coming, I see you're already getting into the holiday spirit. If a wizard can't make it snow then he doesn't have any power. On the other hand, a snowman doesn't make snow, so this is a foolish comparison. Also, this would be something optional you need to turn...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Would be cool if Merlin added a snowflake animation script. DD-WRT had this (nvram set snow=on). Script: https://svn.dd-wrt.com/changeset/5365 Same here on AC86U.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

Thanks for adding the built-in Ookla speedtest. Would it possible to stop the speedtest by pressing the button a 2nd time? On speedtest.net we can just refresh the page to stop the speedtest, but on the router if the page is refreshed, it doesn't stop, you still get a result.
