Mine starting acting up today!...finally bit bullet and picked the ax86u Pro on sale at BB..will keep the AC86u as backup till it complety dies..haha

How much did you get it for? And what issue did you have with AC86U?

I also just replaced AC86U with AX86U Pro. Got it on sale for €130 (final price that includes taxes).
AC86U was the same price €130 at the end of 2019 when I got it during BF. If we take inflation into account, then AC86U was a bit more expensive. Mine is running fine, but it's EOL, no more updates in 2025.
My plan was to skip AX generation and get BE86U, but it was almost double the price, €250 and this was on sale. If it had the 6GHz band then I might have went for this.
WiFi 7 devices are based on the same old 4.19 kernel which went EOL as of December 2024, pretty sad.
And WiFi 7 routers are just buggy at the moment due to the new firmware branch 3.0.0.6. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rt-be92u.90443/post-937748
We need a BE86U Pro with 6GHz and a USB-C port, I wouldn't mind if they would lower the WAN port to 5 Gbps or even 2.5 Gbps (LAN ports remain at 2.5 Gbps), if it meant we get the 6GHz band.

I'm seeing some improvement since AX86 Pro supports 160MHz bandwidth.
On AC86U my phone was connecting at 866 MHz and I was getting a maximum of 620 Mbps in speedtest app.
Now with AX86U Pro, my phone connects at 2401 Mbps and I'm getting 920 Mbps, which is the same speed I have on PC via cable.

Temps are also better.
AC86U: CPU 77°C, 2.4GHz 45°C, 5GHz 52°C.
AX86U Pro: CPU 59°C, 2.4GHz 42°C, 5GHz 46°C.
