    Netgear Used R7000 $95

Hi mtieff, Is the R7000 still available? Thanks!

Router as repeater or access point

Yes, this is correct. However, WHAT DHCP range does the ISP provide for your devices? If the ISP is automatically 'serving' IP Addresses to the devices that are connecting, basically what DHCP is for, they will have a subnet and range of IP addresses to 'serve' from. ISP "Router/Modem" - IP...

Netgear Updates SOHO/SMB NAS Offerings At IFA

I've used the ReadyNAS and it was solid. A bit on the slow side, getting going, that is, talking back in NV+ about 2012 or so. Here is the interface for the ReadyNAS as of now. http://www.netgear.com/landing/readynas-sandbox.aspx Helpful to see what options the Management interface can...

Look at what I found on the back of the shelf... 10BaseT Hub

Yes! I have that EXACT model as well. You never know when you just need to do a quick, down and dirty Sniffing job!

    Looking for a Router

That model looks like a managed L3 switch. I could be wrong about that. Will you need routing/Router capabilities? Unfortunately, there isn't a Review I can find on SNB on these. I've been researching Mikrotik as well because I'm looking to upgrade my Router and Wifi network. Note...

What is the point for a patch panel for home network?

Besides the possibility of losing/slow connectivity because of intermittent connectivity of the RJ45 heads to the strands or wire. Depending on HOW many Cat5e/6 cable drops, you can have a mess of wires there where you'll have a pain to troubleshoot and try to figure out when there's a...

Best solution for wired, large home

So, as a direct Replacement, the Netgear R7000 would be my recommendation IF you're 'High Speed Internet' speeds are over 900 Mbps, then, the Gigabit port WAN to LAN would handle this easily, squeezing the most out of those Internet Speeds. You could use another of these Netgear R7000 routers...

    Looking for a Router

Have you seen the Microtik Routers? CRS226 can handle several of the requirements that you are talking about. The PoE could be like a Netgear G108T which has (4) PoE ports and is a Smart switch. Much more cheaper than a Cisco equivalent. :)

Asus RT-N66U - Looking at retiring the old girl to handle Fiber

I'm looking at WAN-LAN and LAN-WAN throughput as really, this is my primary bottleneck that I just can't get away from with my current RT-N66U, solid, for the most part, yet, unable to handle, Gig WAN speeds from my Dark Fiber. Yes, I would like my Wifi to have a better/faster coverage. I can...

Asus RT-N66U - Looking at retiring the old girl to handle Fiber

Microtik Routerboard RB2011UiAS Is one that I found and love the feature set. Though, the MIPS and 128MB RAM don't seem to be too kosher for a 1 Gig WAN to LAN connection. This is the other, Microtik router CCR 1009-GS. I've used Sonic.net as a Service provider Years ago, when they had a...

Asus RT-N66U - Looking at retiring the old girl to handle Fiber

Yes, I agree mm2001, Meraki is solid. My beef with the MX60W (That I was issued by one of the companies I work for) is the 100 mbit limitations which basically, cuts my 1 Gig fiber at the knees. So, I've split my Dark Fiber connection, so that the MX is taking one Public IP address and the...

Asus RT-N66U - Looking at retiring the old girl to handle Fiber

I've worked on Cisco 1700's as well as Linux OS. I can work on Networking I can program and work on with ease. So, I can work on most anything that you talk about here. I just want to see what options are available to upgrade my network without breaking the bank.

Asus RT-N66U - Looking at retiring the old girl to handle Fiber

I'm still researching the Ubiquiti that rtn66uftw posted above. I like the UAP-AC-Pro, looks like it will do the work nicely. I hadn't thought of separating the Wifi with the Router and this can be a positive. However, i found a thought on the UBI Edgerouter that an end user reported: "This...

ZyWall pbx on wlan alias no incoming

Mmmm... NAT Passthrough will cause some problems, sure. The only way to diagnose that is with Port Mirroring and some software to take that info and point you in the right direction, such as Wireshark. However, I would suggest to not use an IP Masquerade, as you are now. Easiest to do is...

ZyWall pbx on wlan alias no incoming

I'm not sure I understand why you don't have the Asterisk on a 192.168.0.10 IP address instead of behind/in front of the Zywall. If you call Station User to Station User from the Asterisk on the same Subnet, does that work? On the PBX 192.168.0.254(What is this PBX?), if you have Users/SIP...

Options to run ethernet cable from wall to wall mounted rack

In my previous house, I had my network closet with (2) wall mounted 12 Port Network panels for 16 CAT 5E Network ports. I ran the cable right under the Panels and up. It was pretty clean, though the Network Patch cords from the Panel to the Network Switches were unruly. I didn't use it...

Options to run ethernet cable from wall to wall mounted rack

So, will you be using a standard 19" patch panel, such as: http://www.pimfg.com/Product-Detail/K6P-48-B And used in conjuction with a 4U Wall mount Bracket: http://www.pimfg.com/Product-Detail/HMB-04-4 Will give you your 48 ports punched down on a 110 Block panel with an extra (2U) for your 48...

Also, the Netgear R7000 is looking promising as well, though, it doesn't have the ability to give it the awesome RMerlin touch. http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-reviews/32239-ac1900-first-look-netgear-r7000-a-asus-rt-ac68u?start=2
