    Happy with my Linksys WRT600N dual-band router. AFAIK, only dual-band draft-N router that can be flashed w/DD-WRT firmware allowing alot more simul connections than avail thru stock firmware. Only problem is Linksys are not manufacturing these routers anymore and have replaced the product...

    What router is best for my needs?

    The Linksys WRT600N is my gateway router. Dual Radio 2.4GHz+5GHz and a gigabyte switch. Still running stock Linksys firmware atm though as still not yet fully supported by DD-WRT... The DD-WRT folks are hard at work trying to get this beast supported though...

    Haven't benchmarked my throughput. Previously using a pair of WRT54GS the XBOX360 would stutter frequently while playing Hi-Def content. Now that I'm going wireless 5.2GHz Pre-N from notebook running Vista Media Center --> WRT600N gateway --> wireless 2.4GHz Pre-N WRT160 running client...

    Noticed a remarkeable diff running Pre-N connecting my WRT160N in client bridge mode(DD-WRT) wirelessly @270Mbps to WRT600N gateway router. Now I'm able to stream HD LiveTV/Video to the XBOX360 Media Center extender w/o any hiccups.;)

    Got a pair of WRT160N's flashed with DD-WRT V24 that work great and support OpenVPN.:)
