I have been browsing the site reviews for several hours, but don't really see a wireless router that stands above the rest.

Here are my needs, in order from most to least important (price preference $200 or below):

Must have:
1. high number (200+) of simultaneous connections supported.
3. At least one gigabit LAN port (to connect to my switch)
4. Wireless N support

Would like:
3. dual-band wireless-N (preferably simultaneous)
4. good range/signal strength (i.e. 3-antenna rather than cheap compact)
5. fast wireless transfer rates

What router would you recommend? The only ones that I see which seem to fit this are:
D-Link Xtreme N Gaming Router (DGL-4500) - but this seems to have major bandwith issues whereby the wireless bandwith keeps randomly dropping off, and the review makes it extremely unclear whether you can use both bands at once.
and
Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WRT610N) - the replacement for the 610, but I'm a bit leery of the $70 pricetag (compared with $170 for the 600 - what's it missing?) Additionally, the transfer rates don't seem to be as good as the 3-antenna routers, and again, it's not obvious whether both bands can be used simultaneously.

Thanks for the advice,
Zithras

There are no winners for dual-band simultaneous N routers right now.

For high simultaneous connections, I would look at routers based on Ubicom processors, which tend to be the D-Links. Unfortunately, the DIR-825 had disappointing range and the 855 is way overpriced.

The DGL-4500 review summary says single radio. Simultaneous dual-band requires two radios.

I thought the WRT610N was a decent product. But there have been complaints of heat-related stability problems.

what would you suggest?

Just looking at the reviews on Newegg, it seems that the 160N has a whole host of problems. What would you suggest for a router then, (same requirements, but maybe single-band N or non-simultaneous dual-band N instead?)

Thanks,
Zithras

(sent a pm to you as well)

Happy with my Linksys WRT600N dual-band router.

AFAIK, only dual-band draft-N router that can be flashed w/DD-WRT firmware allowing alot more simul connections than avail thru stock firmware.

Only problem is Linksys are not manufacturing these routers anymore and have replaced the product line w/WRT610N which are not DD-WRT compatible at present:(

Sorry, Zithras, I don't answer product recommendation questions on PM.
The D-Link DIR-655 is pretty much the standard for a good all-around single-band draft 11n router right now.
