    AC5300 migrated to 384!

Thank you so much! I guess all that I can do for now is wait and see, since I need SMB2 support to get a 4Gb external drive and I can only have that with Merlin :)

    AC5300 migrated to 384!

Hello, I see that recently AC5300 has been officially migrated to 384. I haven't seen an alpha pre-release build version for it on that thread. I tried to search the forum but found nothing (probably due to incompetence rather than absence of information). Do we know if there are plans for a...

Is it possible to have a 4TB drive shared with Samba with Asuswrt-Merlin?

I solved the problem installing Merlin. Apparently the factory firmware runs an older version of Samba that does not support 4TB per partition....

Is it possible to have a 4TB drive shared with Samba with Asuswrt-Merlin?

No, I'm running the latest 64-bit versions of Windows 10 and MacOs.

Is it possible to have a 4TB drive shared with Samba with Asuswrt-Merlin?

Hello, I a having troubles to share with samba a 4TB USB drive. with the factory firmware it seems that the shared drives (formatted at 4TB and recognized as such by the ASUS firmware web interface) are assigned the wrong size in all the computers that access them. Both ina MAc and in a...

Shared drive on AC-5300 (SAMBA) 4TB drive NTFS only showing 2TB on shared drives on MAc and windows

Hi, I have recently used a USB 3.0 4TB drive with my AC-5300. I have a problem with he amount of free space reported as free space in both a windows and an mac when I access the shared drive. I the web interface of the router says that the drive is 4TB, however the shared folders that I can...

    Restrict guest networks

    Thank you so much RMerlin.

    Restrict guest networks

Thanks for the reply. I guess my question is whether merlin gives more control over the privileges and restrictions to the guest network as compared with the stock firmware.

    Restrict guest networks

Hello, I was wondering if there is any way to restrict access of guest network to an apple TV through airplay. it seems that with the stock firmware even disabling access to intranet, the guest network can still access the apple tv. Does Merlin provide more control on the privileges of the...

Random net loss, 5g going down

Just to update you: After being tired of disconnections in the 5Ghz radio, I took it back to the store. I suspect perhaps that they screwed up something in the A5 revision. It's sad. I love ASUS routers. IN fact I got a AC5300 to replace this unit. So far running 24h without no issues

[alpha] Early preview builds for Asuswrt-Merlin 380.66

Yes I have. I am starting to suspect that in the A5 hardware update they did something wong with the AC3100. I don't have any weird settings on and I deactivated airtime fairness in all bands. yet I lose 5Ghz every couple of hours or so. I will likely take it back to the store and get another model.

[alpha] Early preview builds for Asuswrt-Merlin 380.66

I performed an additional factory reset after a short 5Ghz disconnection. Now the temperature works well: Hoping the 5Ghz becomes stable now. i would love to find out what setting in particular is making my radio unstable in the 5ghz band

[alpha] Early preview builds for Asuswrt-Merlin 380.66

Thank you bobiii. Yes, that explains it the router is a couple of days old. I have been running the alpha3 for 6 horus now and, so far, it is very stable (I was having problems with the stock Asus fw and the stability of the 5GHz radio, fingers crossed) So far the alpha is stable, and working...

[alpha] Early preview builds for Asuswrt-Merlin 380.66

Hmm...I'm a bit reluctant to try to factory reset again (I did after installing) while I'm still testing stability.... it seems it's holding up for now. However if more people report that this should not be the case I will definitely try a factory reset

[alpha] Early preview builds for Asuswrt-Merlin 380.66

Just installed alpha 3 in my recently purchased RT3100 (It was giving me 5GHz instability porblems with teh stock fw, dropping 5Ghz frequently) not sure if this will solve it, but the first thing I noticed is that I cannot see the radio temperatures. This is what I see: Is this normal?

Random net loss, 5g going down

A relevant update: I went to the store this morning and got a new device. After 5 hours of usage with the by default stock fw settings (latest version) except for the fact that I disabled airtime fairness, I lost 5Ghz connectivity again. I think this at the very least discards a hardware...

Random net loss, 5g going down

Okay, I lost 5Ghz again. Interestingly, the 5GHz LED is on but the network just dissappeared. Since I recently acquired the device (actually yesterday) I am going to bring it back to the store and get a new one, to discard that this is a hardware issue. If I get the same problem with a new unit...

Random net loss, 5g going down

I have disabled airtime fairness from both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz. And I am going to watch the stability of my 5Ghz signal. I will report here. Also look forward to the new version of Merlin (not so comfortable with an alpha). I guess it could take some time until it comes, but i will update here on...

Random net loss, 5g going down

Thanks for your input really. I appreciate it. Airtime fairness appears activated by default in the asus firmware I'm running at the moment. Would it be best deactivated? I have at a a given time five about 6 5GHz clients connected. seems I would not need airtime fairness even if it worked...
