    Upload the openvpn file to the device (again) that isn’t working with OpenVPN. Delete the old one. You could have made some changes which broke it.

    Not sure why the MAC address doesn’t work for you. If you use a vpn service on the client and combine it with Tor (on the router), the apps wont leak dns.

    When setting up the router it’ll tell you if there is a update. Just do the update whilst setting up. (It’ll do it automatically) After the update, restore to factory defaults and them manually insert your settings.

    Try this. Instead of policy rules being strict. Just change it to policy rules. Enter your details provided to you by your vpn service.     It’s impressive. If the server is far you’re going to struggle. If you’re not gaming I don’t think you’ll notice that much. Can you not pick a closer server or do you need it out of country. Re the ping time.

    If you had to pick between the two, go for the netgear. That specific ASUS router doesn’t have MIMO. Have you had a look at the AC86u? It’s the same price as the netgear router you linked. Edit: sorry I mixed up the Netgear r7800
