Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.2 Beta is now available for Wifi 7 devices

Smart Connect has been quirky for years. Any fix to it will have to come from Asus, that page is unchanged from stock firmware.

Options: 1. Smart Connect enabled; define same SSID for each WLAN. Clients band steer, subject to Smart Connect. 2. Smart Connect disabled; define same SSID for each WLAN. Clients band steer. 3. Smart Connect disabled; define different SSID for each WLAN. User band steers/segregates...

I'm still having these issues. What I did so far: - Disabled USB3 mode - Even removed the USB stick completely - Disabled WIFI7 - Disabled MLO - Disabled smart connect - Multiple factory resets - Replaced 2 RT-BE88u routers already Maybe I should switch to a TP-Link (Archer BE800)? 🤔

How do I configure asus smartconnect RT-BE92U kicking off devices from 6ghz

Disable Smart Connect, define separate SSIDs, and connect the client to the preferred SSID. Know that a 6GHz connection will weaken more rapidly at distance... not the best for roaming. OE

Access point mode: unable to use AirPlay

Smart Connect is a broadcom module that provides very minimal benefits while causing you a huge amount of trouble to configure properly. In my opinion it’s generally better to avoid using it.

Smart connect rules, leave at defaults?

You can combine Ssid and still turn smart connect off - that’s what I do and rely on the devices themselves to choose the right signal. I found smart connect problematic with apple devices especially; they perform better if they make the choice.

RT-BE92U - Guest Pro Network Support?

Your existing GT-AXE16000 router is the better hardware device and currently runs on more mature 3004.388 base firmware plus has Asuswrt-Merlin support. The "ton of smart devices" is perhaps the issue because they connect to the same single 2.4GHz radio and on many home routers it has limited...

Smart connect rules, leave at defaults?

I have many apple devices so that can be a problem with enabling smart connect. How do I combine the SSID again?

    Smart Band Steering

...by default. For example, Broadcom routers (using the RT-AX82U as an example) have WiFi Agile Multiband disabled and a "Network Tools - Smart Connect Rule" tab, while MediaTek routers (using the RT-AX59U as an example) have WiFi Agile Multiband enabled by default for both bands and no "Network...

    Release ASUS TUF-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_33419 (2024/10/15)

My take is that the smartconnect which is. Asus feature and WiFi agile multi and may be conflicting with each other. So disable smart connect and separating the ssids works better

    Asus RT-AX88U doesn't create Wi-Fi 6 network

Are your devices connecting with the "old" SSID or the new one you created for your 5Ghz radio?

    Asus RT-AX88U doesn't create Wi-Fi 6 network

I have an Asus RT-AX88U router. I turned off smart connect and created dedicated 5 GHz network with 802.11ax/Wi-Fi 6 enabled but none of my WiFi 6 supported devices connect to it as WiFi 6. They connect as WiFi 5 on my home network. So I'm not getting the full performance on WiFi. I have updated...

RT-BE86U - how to disable Smart connect?

I had similar trouble that my smart tv would not connect to RT-BE86U. The solution was to create a 2.4GHz guest network with Wifi7 turned off. The asuswrt setup is quite confusing as the Wifi7 toggle is under the "Network" page, not under "Wifi". Took a while to figure it out.

    ASUS RT-BE92U

I tried that, but some older clients are having trouble connecting to the multi-band "Smart Connect" network. They seem fine with an SSID that is 2.4GHz only.

    Asus BE98 - 10GB WIFI throughput settings

Thanks everyone as said before, my objective is to make sure that I have the right settings since there are a couple of new settings for Wifi7. As suggested I leave smart connect settings on default. What about Channel bandwidth for 6GHZ networks - I set to 320 MHZ or set it to 20/40/80/160/320?
  17. RMerlin

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.2 is now available for Wifi 7 devices

Zero changes to wireless. Your improvement comes from the reboot, quite possibly the router using a different channel, or a change in your environment between both tests.

Mesh network router (but not Asus) for over 100 devices

I agree that Ethernet is the best possible connection and believe me, the more items I can connect this way, I do. However, for some accessories, Wifi is the only possible solution such as smart switches, smart bulbs, etc. It is therefore utopian to believe that we can connect everything in...

Asus Smart Connect switch dont work

...(Wireless, Professional, Band = 2.4GHz, Enable radio = No) If the phone can connect to a 5 Ghz radio module, the problem is in the Smart connect settings, which do not allow you to switch from 2.4Ghz to 5 Ghz. If the phone cannot connect to the 5 Ghz radio module, the problem is in the...
