    Delayed internet connection...

Thanks... I didn't read many of your posts, but did get the picture... ;):) I did think that QoS has anything to do with it. I don't recall disabling it, maybe it's the default setting? No scripting has been tested on the router as of yet, that'll take more time. I'll need to get comfortable...

    Router temperatures

Thanks... In all fairness, most tech companies act the same, when it comes to warranty... Found the link for modding the heatsink for the router. My AX86U is about two weeks old, already added an 80mm Noctua fan with good results, CPU temperature is 46-50C. The copper mod would drop this...

    Delayed internet connection...

Thanks Colin... I was going to swap back in service the N66U, but yours is a better idea. It's probably going to take me a day or two, Mother's Day is coming and I have a lot to do...

    Delayed internet connection...

Thanks Colin... The QoS is not enabled on the router: For that matter, none of the options are enabled under the "General" heading at the moment. My internet connection is stable and had been for long time, except down time due to storms. Other than that, this is the usual speed test...

    Delayed internet connection...

Router: AX86U Firmware Version: ASUSwrt-Merlin: 386.2_4 Issue: Accessing a website, pretty much any website, at times delayed. The browser displays a standard "Unable to access the site..." and before I could finish reading it, the browser refreshes itself and displays the webpage. This has...

    Router temperatures

That would require disassembling the router. Do you have a link how to do it and the type of copper suitable for this purpose? Just curious, if you added the copper directly to the CPU. TIA...

    Router temperatures

Searching for AX86U teardown resulted in pretty much nothing. Some of the information found and my personal view of the AX86U's thermal design posted in this thread. It's not unreasonable to state, that the AX86U thermal design is worse, than the AC86U's. The name label on the AX is slanted and...

    Unknown IP...

Thanks @kernol The alternate worked just fine: PS: Your guess WiFi subnet puzzled me for a second. Until I realized, that it is just a typo and you meant 192.168.101.0/24...

    Unknown IP...

Router: AX-86U Firmware Version: AsusWRT-Merlin 386.2_4 Issue: Unknown IP address The Roku stick is connected to the 5 GHz guess WiFi network and works just fine. The issue comes up, when trying to replace the default with a custom icon for the Roku stick in this window: After clicking on...

    AX-86U operating temperature...

I still build PCs for family and friend, but never seen the the need for more than air cooling. As long as the CPU temperature stays within 15-20C above ambient temperature at idle, there's no need for water cooling in my view. Now, if you'd asking 20+ years ego, back in my overclocking days...

    AX-86U operating temperature...

I agree and it is certain, that the themal design of the AX-86U router is sufficient in most cases. Especially in my environment, where are 2-3 people with active connections at any given time. The longetivity may be a factor, but it is probably 5-6 years down the road. At which point, it'll be...

    AX-86U operating temperature...

I didn't know, that this is such a touchy subject, that had been discussed to ad nauseam. Evidently, there are fans for both sides and I've pretty much placed myself on the side of the router is running too hot. While I respect others views on the subject, it didn't stop me from installing the...

Isn't that what the forum for, "100 more questions answered 100 times already"? ;):D Kidding aside, good advice guys and certainly will take it slow. Thanks everyone...

    AX-86U operating temperature...

The SoC/CPU temperature also depends on the utilization of the router, in addition to the surrounding environment. The latter one will not change and the increased airflow provided by two fans will lower operating temperatures. The increased airflow on the otherhand may result in increased dust...

    AddOns newbie...

Thanks... Pretty much everything is in place, including the SSH, looke at the "amtm" interface and probably add a 64/128GBs USB drive formatted with ext3 file system. Installing addons when everything in place looks easy, I just had to wrap my head around it.... Thanks everyonbe for your help...

    AX-86U operating temperature...

Thanks everyone... My router does have the 386.2.2 Merlin firmware. The CPU temperature of 70 Celsius is hot in my view, even for an SoC type of CPU. Utilizing thermal pad between the SoC and the heatsink, instead of the thermal compound like Artic Silver, probably contributes 10-15 degree...

    AX-86U operating temperature...

My new Asus router CPUs run at high temperature: That's about 155 degree in Fahrenheit, that rather high. Especially, when compared to my i5-3350P, also four cores: For the Asus router with passive cooling, this might be normal, but I'd want to cool it off. Fan noise is an important...

    AddOns newbie...

Thanks for the link... This is the first I've heard about AMTM, this site has a lot of addons for the Asus router, included in the Asuswrt-Merlin firmware or not. That's a lot of learning for a newbie prior to installing them. Running scripts in the terminal is the least of my problem, making...

    AddOns newbie...

I'll have the latest version of Merlin installed tomorrow morning. Entware may take a while, based on a short glance at it. There seems to be some conflict between Optware and Entware with Asuswrt Merlin firmware that needs to be evaluated prior to running scripts and installing addons. Thanks...
