Did anyone switch to the WRT1900AC?

Nope. Sticking with my proven AC56U. WRT is sitting on my shelf looking geeky......waiting until OpenWrt is stable and a viable option to flash to it, but, that won't happen anytime soon. Marvel still is not cooperating. Its a real shame. So much potential.

    OpenWRT for Linksys WRT1900AC

Been reading through multiple threads and forums on OpenWRT for the WRT. Yea, I ain't touching it. Far too risky and issues. Incredible how Belkin/Linksys just tossed this device out there, advertising its Open Source compatibility, not even bothering to check with the well-established Open...

    AiCloud/AiDisk - Additional Accounts

I don't recall changing the port. I must have if the default is 443. Which makes sense actually cause I have port 443 forwarded to my Win sever box. The link generator code apparently is not intelligent enough to add the port number should u change it from default. Thats poor planning. Give...

    AiCloud/AiDisk - Additional Accounts

I also just noticed that I can create a share URL. However, I have to add the port number(444) to the generated URL for a remote user to access the download. Not sure if that is a bug or not. Also, you can make the share link expire in 1 hour, 1 day and so on...but nothing in between that set...

802.11ac - Did the FCC kick the chair from underneath Tx Beamforming?

They always put the highest number in marketing. And "Varies by country"...to which in most countries, the max limit is much lower than that. Would love to know what country allows nearly 1.8 watts....max I have have seen in firmwares is 200mw.

    AiCloud/AiDisk - Additional Accounts

I have the AC56U. Been some time since I have tried the AiDisk and AiCloud feature. It seems that still...only the Router admin account and password will login to the AiCloud page (name.asuscom.com:444). I do have additional accounts set under the "Network Place(Samba) Share / Cloud...

    WiFi Scanning software

I do use WiFi Analyzer on my S3, but thats only for general wifi detection(and I think the S3 is only N150). The antennas in smartphones are not the greatest. Laptop antennas are most always better. Plus, u can't hook up a directional USB wifi adapter to a smartphone. I am mainly looking for...

    WiFi Scanning software

Anyone try Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector over inSSIDer(which used to be free)? Its a bit older(and thus doesn't identify AC correctly),but, I like the way it looks and reports a bit better...and it shows the Vendor of the detected AP(for some). Also, PassMark WirelessMon. I just noticed that...

    WRT1900AC - New Firmware v1.1.7.160582 Available

Don't think anyone here would know that. When ever they decide to post it... They may never post it. It may be an in-between update. There are a few FW versions that Asus never posted to their site and that were only available from the routers GUI updater.

    Is DD-WRT still relevant?

I tried all of that advanced stuff trying to res-erect several Netgear routers...thinks it was the WND...or WNDR3000 or 35000...can't remember...either way, lost cause.

    Is DD-WRT still relevant?

I still say the old Cisco E2000, E3000 were the best out there as far as newest gen of the older gen. I buy and sell those to clients and those are the ones(with TomtatoUSB) that I/they have never had a single issue with. And, they are easy to modify to add external antennas.

Yea...in mixed mode...this is how inSSIDer sees the 2.4 band of the Linksys. (It is the network called "Pridelands2.4')

    Linksys WRT1900AC First User Reports

Well said RMerlin. We seem to have very similar experiences/opinions with it...except for the usb 3 thing. I assume u updated to the latest firmware for ur testing(the one I received was out of date)....though a new firmware version just came out yesterday. (added tagged vlan, not sure what...

    Is DD-WRT still relevant?

The code is still there..and you would be surprised how even inactive code and left over stuff can cause random issues. Features I don't use/want...I consider to be bloat...just as with my Android phone. Slim and lean, always better, in my experience. Ultimately, I just fine the Ui of DD-WRT...

    Is DD-WRT still relevant?

That is older equipment and yes, DD-WRT works fine on the older G stuff. I guess I should clarified that I meant on newer N devices. I gave up G stuff long ago:cool:

    Is DD-WRT still relevant?

All those features u can do in Asus stock firmware...and Tomato too. Anyway, to put it simple, I have had bad experience with DD-WRT...especially on Netgear products. I have had multiple routers bricked when trying to flash DD-WRT(only a few I was able to recover). I also have had many of...
