    NAS FTP Client

Just to add my 2cents. I have had two Syno Nas now and they both do ftp/sftp. Your paying a premium for Synology but man you get great software and the community is super active. I have recently switched over from running crashplan via the 3rd party app by Patters and now run it in "Docker" as a...

    Ds918+ software problem

Tony is right that the Syno community forums is a more active place for Syno issues. But since your here, did you try a different browser? Sometimes its the way the code interacts with a particular browser or plugin. Good luck

Automatically delete files after X days?

These guys have the answer your looking for. Took me 10 seconds with google. https://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?t=127030 This is a German page but goes a little deeper with task scheduler and emailing you. https://phi.de/en/synology-nas-dateien-nach-zeitplan-automatisch-loeschen/

Do 2 Lan Port mean Faster Backups?

I always liked the highway & car analogy. It the interface is the highway and packets are the cars. Adding more highway lanes doesn't make the cars go any faster, just more cars can go at the same time.

    NAS as DHCP Server

Have you looked in the dhcp server for the clients to see if they are showing up in there? Also, there is a Log Center app in the software center for making the Syno a log server.

    [Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.68 is available

skillz, I don't recall which router chipset you have. As you noted from the dd-wrt thread, the ack timings only seem to impact Atheros chipset based wifi. That excludes the Broadcom based devices. At one time there was a Broadcom forum thread discussion about tweaking the router for best...

    Larger subnet client list

I'm not the best resource but I am under the impression that these home grade routers don't support nets that large. Someone is going to have to chime in that has more firm knowledge on the topic.

pfSense/Sophos vs ASUSWRT/RMerlin - Is there any reason to change?

If you find they implement it, let me know. I don't need it that badly to keep watching the forums but would like to have it. If and when it gets implemented.

pfSense/Sophos vs ASUSWRT/RMerlin - Is there any reason to change?

Yeah that sounds like your describing the UTM as the vpn server. In my comments I am describing using UTM as an OpenVPN CLIENT to my NordVPN account. Nord is the server, I am the client. I found no easy way to implement that in UTM. Unless I missed it, when I read through the Sophos forums it...

pfSense/Sophos vs ASUSWRT/RMerlin - Is there any reason to change?

I ran an old pc with Sophos UTM 9.x on it for over a year as my home FW. Awesome product with nearly all features enabled. Some of the more business oriented such as managing Sophos anti-virus clients are disabled on the free ver & its important to know the free home version is limited to 50...

    CIDR Quick Question

Yup, if you want to block all those IPs (52.x.x.x & 54.x.x.x) then you have it correct. The /8 means respect the first octet and dont worry about the last 3 octets.

Good evening Hoggmes. I have a T-Mobile RT-AC68U coming and I am going to flash its CFE so I can install non-T-Mobile firmware on it. Would you be kind enough to provide me a copy of your current firmware for the AC68U please? Thank you very much. Mike

Copying files/directories from one Synology Disk Station to another, why so difficult?!

rsync is what I use to keep folders on one NAS sync'ed to another remote NAS. Works fine for me. I have it setup on a daily schedule so its automated. One NAS is rsync client and one is server.

is Synology right for my needs (vs DUI)? Network/NAS update

Steve, I have not installed it myself but a buddy of mine did last year and showed it to me. He did not have any issues. I do not know the details of the install but he made it sound just as simple as the youtube video I watched about 6 months ago on how to install it. There are many online...

    Enable jumbo frame on 192.168.1.1

big, I dont have the Asus router you have but I do know a similar discussion came up about a year ago on the dd-wrt forums for the Netgear R7000 router. In the end, the router WAN interface hardware had a phy limit where as the LAN switch might have supported jumbo frames. So what I am...

Synology NAS hosted website slow in loading pages

Your posted output of the trace doesnt in and of itself indicate an issue with the network. There are only 2 responses that go over 22ms and that can easily be explained as the routers giving ICMP a low priority compared to other data traffic traversing the interface. There is not enough...

is Synology right for my needs (vs DUI)? Network/NAS update

Since no one has addressed one of the OP's questions I will. You CAN run Synology DSM on a pc... It is called Xpenology & there is a lot of good info on how to do it available on the web. So you can have your cake and eat it too if you want. You can use your own/powerful hardware and Synology's...
