    ASUS AXE7800 dead

I came across a few AXE7800 lately (4pcs if im correct, the fifth one just had a user, who tried to power the router via the USB port...) all four had faulty MXIC flash with abnormal amount of bad blocks. I have same experiences with older models, with the same flash memory, same behavior: only...

ASUS XT8 and RT-AXE7800 won't work together in AiMesh setup

If you have a digital multimeter, without disassembling, unplug the 5,5mm 12V jack and in diode mode, measure the center and side pins (12V and GND). If its shorted, that means something just faulty on the power rails. Low chance for that, but it is repairable. If its not shorted, it is very...

    Firmware File?

Is there any way to extract the rom file/the binary (what you can flash on the nand chip) from the .pkgtb or .trx or .w files? I know that Asus are using an encapsulation on their motherboard bios files, i can deal with that with the UEFITool, but asuswrt is a totally different cake to bake...

The best to avoid interference is to use optical cables and media converters/SFPs :)

Asus XT8 devices are not connecting again

Than test it again by putting back the old device. Check the log on the old asus for the "miniupnpd[4530]: accept(http): Too many open file" messages as well.

Asus XT8 devices are not connecting again

https://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ac68u-and-miniupnpd-problems.17406/ From Merlin himself: "I suspect you have a device or a program running on your network that's broken, and incorrectly interacting with the UPNP server, perhaps spamming it with forward requests." Your printer or air con...

Asus XT8 devices are not connecting again

Hmm, dont we already had a thread about this? I cant find it. I would check the log first, and if it is not giving help, i would sniff around the DHCP, by checking MACs, IPs, fixing them to each other on the two problematic devices. "Dumb" devices can act wierd if they go to sleep and they get a...

ASUS XT8 and RT-AXE7800 won't work together in AiMesh setup

Lol, look whats behind me :D Share the log from the AXE where it fails and drops, may that shows something. Be careful to hide your sensitive data (MACs, SSID) (Tech9 dont judge me, i just repaired them)

Difference between XD4 Plus and AX Mini (XD4)

XD4 Mini: 256Mb flash, pulsating LED, no rattling noise if you shake it (or if it has, than it is a problem) XD4 Plus: 128Mb flash, flashing LED, can be mounted on a wall or cieling (has holes for that on its bottom), has a rattling noise when you shake it, same footprint and shape and plastic...

    [rt-ac86u] very easy to brick

Thank you, but this is just the commands what the help command shows to us, tought that there are more options. From the the NAND dumps i saw the strings what could be written by the commands, where it mentions options for more and different NAND operations, so there must be a way. About the "n...

    GT-AX6000 power supply

    [rt-ac86u] very easy to brick

Sorry for bringing this up after 5 years, but i have some devices around with bad NAND blocks... I changed the NAND chip on them: i wrote the original NAND content back to the new and good NAND, but the flasher also copies the bad block flags on to the new NAND. I also tried the "n e" command...

[ZenWifi XT9] Random issues with latency and dropped packets

Can you hook up your phone as WAN? Just to sort out that the problem exist in another internet source as well (so, it is caused by something in your LAN). Dont forget to turn off your seed server before you get bandwidth cap on your phone! :)

[ZenWifi XT9] Random issues with latency and dropped packets

Seems fine. But the order of the log lines is a mess :S For now just keep checking if the "Tunnel built successfully" message appears in the same time as the lag spikes.

Wait a minute, your timestamps in the log are all over the place. Did you tweaked the sequence, or it just cant get the correct time? Mine looks like this:
