Brand new RT-AX86U, slow wired ports (more accurately, slow speedtests)

I'm having similar problems. I got the RT-AX86U and also switched to Verizon Fiber service 300/300. When I run speedtest from a computer connected directly to the Verizon box, I get 310 download, 340 upload. When I connect the Asus router, I get full speed download, but only 200 to 220 upload...

    Should I upgrade R7800 to RT-AX86U

Thanks for your help! Based on your findings, I think I will give the Asus a try. If the range is not improved, I may run a network cable to the back of the house and configure the R7800 as AP.

    Should I upgrade R7800 to RT-AX86U

Thank you for your response! Did you actually measure the speed in the far bedroom? Did it actually improve? I have two concerns about buying: 1. Since I already have 7 AX clients, would they benefit from AX router? I looked again at the charts on SNB for both routers, and it's clear that the...

    Should I upgrade R7800 to RT-AX86U

In the last couple of months, the number of AX clients I have grew from 2 to 7. In addition to these, I have several clients that use AC and a few that only support N 2.4Ghz (printers, security cameras). I have R7800 running OpenWRT. The house is about 1300sf on one floor. Router is located in...

Need advice to buy between asus ac68u and netgear r7000

I had the RT-AC66 (Not 68) and R7000 at home. Both provide the same max theoretical connection speed at 5Ghz. I thought the results would be similar, but I was very surprised. The R7000 provided stronger signal and longer range both inside and outside the house, with Wireless N and AC clients. I...

    Netgear R7000 USB Data Corruption

R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.3.80 Does anyone know if this problem was solved with firmware 1.0.3.80? The release note says that NTFS driver was upgraded. Is NTFS performance improved? I am debating buying this router specifically for using it with external USB drive. Thanks for any input.

Wifi AC network speed slow due to windows seven

Your system connects at AC speeds, so that's a good sign. I don't know what the problem is with your setup, but I don't think it's Windows 7. I have Asus RT-AC66 router, WD MyCloud NAS, and a laptop with Intel AC7260 running Windows 7. The laptop is two floors above the router. Windows...

Wifi AC network speed slow due to windows seven

What is the connection speed that Windows 7 reports in the Network and Sharing Center? Is it higher than 300Mbps?

    New AC66 Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.2524

I just installed your firmware instead. Did factory reset and it works very well. Thanks so much! A donation is on the way.

    TP-LINK Archer C8 is out

It's already down to $130 on amazon.com. I wonder if it works better with Broadcom clients than the original C7. Nice design for the C8, BTW.

    New AC66 Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.2524

Still not connecting at AC speed I tried this version, and unfortunately, like the previous version 376.1123, my laptop does not connect at a speed higher than 300 Mpbs. When I use firmware 374.5517 I can connect at 867Mbps, which is the maximum speed with Intel AC7260 client. Does anyone else...

    RT-AC66U Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.1123 problem

Last response I got from Asus is that the "..information has been documented and forwarded to the appropriate contacts for further review and improvement." From my experience, and it is limited, only Asus and Apple provide long term firmware updates. I hope Asus fix this problem soon.

    RT-AC66U Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.1123 problem

Thanks for all the responses. I should have mentioned that at 5Ghz range, bandwidth is set to 80Mhz. I reported this problem to Asus and got a response from them to set the bandwidth to 40Mhz. I did that, and now my client connects at 300Mbps. This is not an acceptable solution. I did not...

    RT-AC66U Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.1123 problem

I am using Asus RT-AC66U router with Intel AC7260 laptop client (Intel driver version 17.0.5). At 5Ghz range I usually get connection speed of 650Mbps a couple of floors away from the router. I updated the router firmware from 3.0.0.4.374.5517 to 3.0.0.4.376.1123. The connection speed maxes out...

    TP-Link Archer C7 V2

Thanks for the info. Does version 2 work better with Broadcom clients? that was the biggest problem with version 1.

    TP-Link Archer C7 V2

I noticed that there is version 2 hardware of this router. It uses Qualcomm QCA9880-BR4A chip. The only info I could find about this is here: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wdr7500 Does anyone have experience with this new version? Does it work better with Broadcom clients? This...

    For Canadians: Netgear R6300v2 $129.99 at Newegg.ca

Valid until December 1st: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122580 AC1750 dual core USB 3.0. Based on SNB reviews for R7000 and R6250, this one should be quite decent, as it sits between them in the Netgear lineup. The price is very attractive, especially in Canada.

If you were going to buy a router right now...

I installed the same Intel client 7260AC in my laptop (2012 Sony). I can tell you that the Intel drivers for Windows 7 are not very good (read the Intel forums), but it was the same with the Intel 6235 that was installed originally. In comparison, my 2012 MBP (non retina), that is located...

    Asus RT-AC66U or Netgear R6250

I did. I was tempted by the TP-Link Archer C7, because it's cheaper and was well reviewed here. However, Tim Higgins found that it does not play well with Broadcom clients, and one of my machines uses that. Thanks again for your input, I think I will get the Asus.

    Asus RT-AC66U or Netgear R6250

Thanks for your answer. I already upgraded 2 client machines to AC, and may also buy a Macbook Pro that supports AC1300, so it makes sense to go with Wireless-AC router. I only wonder if the Asus, which is first generation AC, is stable. I've been using the Netgear R6250 for a few weeks, and I...
