    Gigaset.net services have ended

Gigaset have been acquired and their Gigaset.net services have now been switched off. I was using their weather service on this which gave a 3 day forecast on their VoIP phones. There is an option on the base to enter a new info provider. Does anyone know of another provider that will work with...

    Small AiMesh Node

How about a small repeater/AIMesh node like https://www.asus.com/uk/networking-iot-servers/range-extenders/all-series/rp-ax58/ Or https://www.asus.com/uk/networking-iot-servers/range-extenders/all-series/rp-ax56/ HB

Bought the Asus AX5700 Dual-band RT-AX86U Pro router.. Should I pay $50 more for the Asus AX6000 or AXE7800?

Your RT-AX86U Pro is an excellent router. The RT-AX88U Pro is slightly better and also has both a 2.5Gb LAN and WAN port. Whether it's worth an extra $50 I'm not sure. The RT-AXE7800 adds the WiFi 6 extended band (AXE) but loses a 2.5Gb port. The 86 or 88 pro are the better choice IMO unless you...

    Announcement: 3006 progress report - it's a go

The 3006 firmware’s main draw seems to be the VLAN capability. Bar ring-fencing multiple LANs from others where additional security is needed, does this bring other benefits to home users who are currently happily running one LAN? Are there any performance gains to be had for example? Thanks! HB

    Announcement: 3006 progress report - it's a go

Is there a definitive list of the models that ASUS are moving to 3006 or have they not even decided yet? HB

    Outdoor AiMesh

Does it need to be an actual router or would a small repeater suffice? Something like the ASUS RP-AX58U may be suitable plus it can be added to ASUS’s AiMesh. No antennas to worry about plus the whole unit is effectively a plug so if you already have a shielded plug socket then you may not...

New fibre instal problems - help!

Setting to aggrressive and then rebooting everything seems to have slowed the disconnects. I’m hopeful that it will settle down over night. Thank you again for pointing me to the IPTV setting - I would never have thought to explore that! Best, HB

New fibre instal problems - help!

Thank you Ripshod! This works for a few minutes and then disconnects saying your ISP's DHCP does not function properly. I have the query set to normal but have tried the others (aggressive and continuous) and these drop the same. Any ideas here? HB

New fibre instal problems - help!

I'm in the UK and have just had fibre installed by a company called Connect Fibre https://www.connectfibre.co.uk/ The install went OK, they plugged their router in (a Linksys) and it worked. However, I need to connect it to my ASUS based router and mesh. No matter what we and the instal guy...

Binding a client to node disconnects

@bbunge - setting 2.4 WiFi to WPA2 Personal has solved the appliance connection issues and they are now talking to each other again. Thank you very much!! HB

Binding a client to node disconnects

OK thanks I’ll try just WPA2 but I thought that the WPA2/3 setting would allow the client to use either? I turned off smart connect after trying it many years ago. It caused too many issues for me (mainly Squeezeboxes not connecting at all) and also prefer to know what band I’m connected to by...

Binding a client to node disconnects

Pretty sure there’s not too much. I only have the two APs in the house. The 16000 covers everything except the orangery where the second house node is now placed. The kiitchen is in-between the two though and the appliances connect to either as long as not bound. I think the WiFi is set to...

Binding a client to node disconnects

GT-AXE16000 master, RT-AX86U x 2, RT-AX59U, RP-AX58U -all wired nodes I recently added the RT-AX59U node to our orangery. This room struggled to receive a reliable signal from the master GT-AXE16000. Since adding it, our Miele hob and extractor hop around connecting to the master and new...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 Beta is now available

Thank you! Didn’t know that. I have learned something new today 😀 HB

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 Beta is now available

To start with I disabled all except 2.4 but if any other band bar 2.4 is disabled, it reports 2.4 is off (when it isn’t). With just 2.4 enabled it actually comes up with an additional warning that I have WiFi switched completely off. It’s no biggy as it’s just a visual glitch on the GUI (for me...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 Beta is now available

GT-AXE16000 - all seems OK. Found one UI bug (which may have been introduced in a previous firmware). If you disable other WiFi bands whilst leaving 2.4 on, the UI reports that 2.4 is disabled when it is not. I do not use Smart connect. HB

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 is now available

Same here for two RT-AX86U nodes. I just use the ASUS app (which reports them as ‘off’) to turn on the LEDs (which are already on) and then toggle them to off. An annoying bug for sure! HB

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.5 is now available

Thank you so much. I couldn’t work out how to see these on GitHub. I’ll be doing the same as you and skipping the release then. @RMerlin - a nice to have would be an asterisk or similar against any components that have changed since beta in your future final release notes. And thanks as always. HB
