Just spent $3000 on NAS what now?

OMG!!! Yeah, a NAS can do lots of cool stuff. I'm using an 8TB WD MyCloud (PR4100) in RAID-5. ($800 - preloaded with WD Red drives) I LOVE it! Once upon a time, I lost about 600 Gb of data (engineering files) from previous employers that I ha accumulated over a number of years. My single 2Tb...

    Web History not working

Following this thread... I noticed the problem as well on the AC87R. The latest update to firmware version 384.5 didn't fix it either. I even rest to factory default settings after the update and manually reconfigured everything. No change... It's definitely a bug that I hope gets fixed ASAP. I...

How do you create a wired Ethernet backbone using 2 Routers and a Gateway?

Whoa!! You have way too much NAT'ing going on. Only one router should be doing Network Address Translation, or it will also cause slow speeds. The Arris gateway should be set to "Bridge Mode" and let one of the other routers take control. You've got a lot going on with three fancy products, so...

    ac87r as a bridge?

I was wondering something along the same lines. I was thinking about upgrading to the 88u (as a primary router), and then converting my 87u to a bridge, since I'm having problems with the 68u in bridge mode. I decided to hold off for now, since I'm convinced that buying the newest Asus product...

Asus Products Bridge-Mode Problem (maybe all models)

I never owned the RT-AC66, and could swear I had a predecessor to the AC68. I did at one time own two of the Rt-AC68's, and gave one away to my Dad. I thought there was one that got discontinued somewhere in the mix. I'm probably mistaken. I do buy and "throw away" lots of equipment, because...

Asus Products Bridge-Mode Problem (maybe all models)

From all the reading through multiple threads, on different products, it seems like lots of people are having problems with running these routers in "bridge-mode". Similar problems are also seen in AP mode, but am not sure if the two problems may be related. I seen mention of RT-AC66U...

    RC-AC68U - Media Bridge mode - Bonjour/ZeroConf/Multicast filtering?

I was running a RT-AC87U (firmware Merlin Ver 378.55_0.trx), as a primary Router And... a RT-AC68U (Same firmware ), in a bridge configuration. It was working just fine for about 3 months, then I noticed my laptop, connected to the bridge via a docking station, was not getting an IP address...

Wifi clients keep losing internet connection on ac68u

A couple of things... First, you need to put the AC68U into "AP" mode, otherwise you might be double NAT'ing and that will hurt your overall performance. Also... Something else, that is probably happening, if your not in "AP" mode, is that you have two devices trying to issue IP addresses, and...

Help..It's really weird. I can not connect WIFI.

Make sure DHCP is turned on, so that it can issue an IP address. If ther is no device issuing IP addresses, it won't connect no matter what.

Best settings for gaming? (PS3, PC, Wii U)

Those settings (shown in your screenshots) are typical... Probably has little to no effect for gaming. I didn't do any special settings on mine for gaming, and don't experience any lag. What are your internet speeds like? Mine are typically 105 MB down, and about 12 MB up. No need to DMZ...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

One more thing... Hardware acceleration is OFF. I hope this doesn't have anything to do with the NAT loopback "fix" that seemed to be implemented a couple of versions ago. I'm afraid to turn Hardware acceleration ON, to check, for fear that I could be totally locked out.

Are we expecting anything cool from Asus at CES?

You mean the RT-AC68U? I don't think there is an 86U... Unless I missed something.:D

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

No problem here with DDNS, but... I have two RT-AC68U's on the first one... I was making some basic configuration changes (like SSID and passwords), and it just quit responding. I thought I "bricked it". I tried to restore to factory defaults, and nothing. The firmware recovery utility...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.48 is out

I am also closely watching the progress with NAT Loopback. I disabled HW acceleration long ago ( probably first or send FW rev) when a number of us discovered the problem. I would be "delighted" (super excited or any other fancy descriptors) of ASUS actually fixed it. Patiently waiting for...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.48 is out

So far, I'm loving this version. By the way... Cute Merlin icon. I got my speed back without having to use (ver 43 fork). I actually like to put names with Mac addresses since I have so many devices in the house. And manage the kids wifi access on their phones late at night.

    Need to Reboot daily RT-AC68U

That happened recently, to a buddy of mine. After lots of troubleshooting, it turned out to be a splitter and a bad cable. We took those out and the problem went away. Probably too much attenuation in his coax, going to his modem. It caused his router to do weird things. The router in use was...

    Not getting full speed.

Whatever you choose, make sure it's ONLY a modem, and not a router/modem or "residential gateway", as it's sometimes called. That's the only sure way to basically get a "bridge". Then let your super awesome ASUS do the rest of the magic. You'll be much happier. Also, your ISP may stop...

    Not getting full speed.

Those modems/routers provided by the ISP are typically "junk". If possible, buy your own aftermarket modem, that is strictly a modem. This is so you don't have to worry about double NAT. I guarantee that's the source of your problem. I've configure a number of those routers provided by the...

    Need help extending wireless network

All you really need is an access point, but there is lots to think about when doing CCTV cameras. Run your ethernet to the "wireless AP" and then, you would need to configure the SSID and security key. Ask away though, and I'll see if I can point you into the right direction.

Help : RT-AC68U slow download, fast upload

I think something might be wrong with your router... Something is definitely not right. Even at the default settings, your speeds should NOT be that slow. Out of the box performance is acceptable. Especially even if you've updated the firmware. No problems here... I LOVE my router.
