    Home Switch recommendation? Managed, unmanaged?

I tried combining a TP-Link 8 'smart' switch with my Zyxel 16 port 'smart' switch and it was a disaster. Link aggregation worked OK but everything slowed down. After looking around, I discovered that the half baked firmware wouldn't save anything after the first save from the GUI but would...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I think you've nailed it. As long as the OP stays on your firmware, should be good to go. 376.3626 might be a no go as it might contain a CFE update but I really don't remember. The only way to be sure it to change to the Asus 1.0.2.0 or 1.0.2.1 CFE for the RT-AC68U. If the OP does update to...

AC68U (was TM-AC1900) connection on 2.4ghz drops for a few minutes every few hours

Andi, IIRC, it has an older wireless driver. John can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the older wireless driver to be more stable, at least in my case. It's based on an older version of Merlin and John maintains security updates but not features so you lose all the cool new stuff from...

AC68U (was TM-AC1900) connection on 2.4ghz drops for a few minutes every few hours

Try one of John's forked version firmwares (based on older Merlin). I found 13E1to be the most stable but haven't tried anything newer than 15. http://www.snbforums.com/threads/fork-update-for-374-43-available-v17e8-v18b9.18914/

    Downgrade Asus RT-AC87U

Just to give credit, I didn't come up with this method, simply took what a good poster wrote and verified it worked and then added it to the guide. I'm very sorry that I don't remember who wrote it though (getting old). Great that it works though!!!

    AC68U (was TM-AC1900) won't accept 378.56, or anything

I suspect that the firmware you tried had a CFE update inside and it somehow failed. Otherwise, if the CFE was intact, it should be recoverable. One of the great features of the Asus CFE system and it's ability to recover. All breaks down when the CFE is being updated and that update fails...

Updated How-To? TM-AC1900 (T-Mobile Cell Spot) to Merlin Firmware Guide?

No, you're not stuck but you'll have to change your CFE from TMobile 2.1.2.6 to Asus 1.0.2.0 (or 1.0.2.1). If you have Telnet ability, you won't have to do anything except follow the guide to slide into an Asus CFE. If you don't have Telnet, you'll have to downgrade to an older TMobile firmware...

    AC68U (was TM-AC1900) won't accept 378.56, or anything

For you guys that have bricked the router (or think so), can you try the following.... Tips for getting to mini-CFE webserver Power off the router using the power button Set your PC's IP to 192.168.29.2, subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.29.1 (assuming the recovery mode is...

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

First two MAC's are the same. I would enter the one on the back into the first two. As for the other, you could take a guess (or pull one from an old router in the house). You could also just change the last two digits (as that seems to be the pattern anyway - off by a few digits).

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

I would suggest an NVRAM reset (press and hold the WPS button while powering router on and continue to hold WPS button for at least 10 seconds or so after powering on). Also, your IP address is static, correct? Finally, try a different browser.

    Does T-Mobile/ASUS TM-AC1900 (RT-AC68U) Support Merlin?

A tip from the guide (I verified this working a few weeks ago). Tips for getting to mini-CFE webserver Power off the router using the power button Set your PC's IP to 192.168.29.2, subnet 255.255.255.0 & gateway 192.168.29.1 (assuming the recovery mode is 192.168.29.1) Navigate to...

Possibly bricked my TM-AC1900 while downgrading to RT-AC68U after flashing Merlin?

http://slickdeals.net/f/7193262-t-mobile-personal-cellspot-ac-router-by-asus-free-for-postpaid-25-deposit?v=1 (see the WIKI) CFE guide (you'll need to change to Asus CFE before you can use anything other than TMobile firmware)...

    Asus TM-AC1900 Question

Yes, that should be correct. What CFE and firmware are you running? It was reported the HTML hack was killed off some time ago (I can't confirm as I don't have the firmware). Of course, you'll still need an Asus CFE to change to non TMobile firmwares.

Updated How-To? TM-AC1900 (T-Mobile Cell Spot) to Merlin Firmware Guide?

That may be possible but why would you want to (unless you already have a JTAG unit to flash with)? I guess if the unit was bricked from the CFE flashing, that would be an option (assuming there is a JTAG unit that can flash the CFE on this unit).

    Asus TM-AC1900 Question

s Partially. You can still get to restoration mode and run the mini CFE webserver to flash a firmware. The normal pattern of restoration mode (flashing power light) has been removed.

    Asus TM-AC1900 Question

See my other post. Will not work. The TMobile firmware/CFE will not accept Merlin's (or Asus) firmware, even in Restoration mode. You're going to have to change the CFE to a native Asus RT-AC68U CFE before another firmware will take. To do that, you'll have to roll back to Tmobile .1703...
