Upgraded to BT Full Fibre but not seeing full bandwidth

Hi. Sorry for the late reply on this. So I went ahead with your suggestions and can confirm that my trusty old AC68U is now ustilising the full 500 Mbit connection. Thank you for the tips, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Eventually I'll look into upgrading but unfortunately not at...

Upgraded to BT Full Fibre but not seeing full bandwidth

Thanks for the suggestions! I've never downgraded a Merlin firmware version before. How would I go about the process and are there risks involved of potentially bricking the router if it goes wrong?

Upgraded to BT Full Fibre but not seeing full bandwidth

Oh. So my Asus router will continue to function as it is now with the usual routing functionalities, features, scripts etc, but the BT Smart Hub 2 will instead connect to the WAN port on the ONT box. Do I have that right? In terms of devices, do I connect them to the BT Smart Hub 2 instead?

Upgraded to BT Full Fibre but not seeing full bandwidth

Interesting. I'll keep the AX68U in mind, thanks! How would I go about still using the Asus for the usual features as well as continue to use scripts such as Diversion, Skynet etc? I guess put the Asus in Access Point mode and the Smart Hub 2 as the main Router connected to the ONT box?

Upgraded to BT Full Fibre but not seeing full bandwidth

Thanks for the response. Good point. I guess because of the plethroa of features it has over the BT Smart Hub 2, I immediately thought it to be better spec wise. I guess perhaps that's not the case but feature wise, I think it should be. So are there any particular features I could safely go...

Upgraded to BT Full Fibre but not seeing full bandwidth

Hi, A bit of a strange one here. So I was recently upgraded to BT Full FIbre (500/70) where I more or less get the full speed when using the supplied BT Smart Hub 2, however on my Asus AC68U using the latest Merlin firmware version 386.10 , I'm not getting anything more than 130-150 Mbit...

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

Thanks for clarifying! I've run the command but there's a large output and am unsure the syntax I should be looking for. I can't fully parse the output :) Oh. I didn't mean to give the impression there was anything wrong with the code, sorry if it came across that way (to be honest, I wouldn't...

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

So with that said. Would you still recommend this to use? I really enjoyed using Adguard Home for the few days I had it active, but I want to be absolutely sure that it's safe and doesn't present any privacy/security concerns. Thanks.

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

Thanks so much. That makes sense! One more thing. Port 53 open on the local interface (tcp/udp) is completely fine correct? Sorry as I mentioned not an advanced user!

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

@SomeWhereOverTheRainBow Thanks for the reply! It was alarming to see initially as you wouldn't expect to see that open on the WAN interface. So then is it safe to ignore? How would I make sure its ok. And no I haven't opened any ports on the Firewall.

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

Ok. So this does appear to be related to Adguard Home. With it installed, I reran the 'Diagnostics' command in RTMON and again port 53 appeared open under WAN0 IP for both TCP and UDP. After uninstallation, I ran 'Diagnostics' once more which now shows WAN0 IP empty for TCP. Though for UDP it...

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

The way this is phrased makes it sound like you personally just did this  I take it to mean the script that you created you're using the tool to help us query our interfaces :) Will do! Thanks for the heads up on that and will report back on my findings after reinstalling Adguard.

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

I hope you don't mind it was quicker for me to grab just to show as an example. ;)

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

Ok. After a Router reboot, RTMON is no longer showing port 53 as open under WAN0 IP. It now shows the text 'none'. I'm glad to see that's resolved now. Thanks to @ColinTaylor and @dave14305 for your assistance! But I do wonder why that was there in the first place? Was it legitimately open or...

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

Yep, each time I check RTMON, it comes back as showing the port as being open consistently. I've disabled DNS Director and still the same. I will try a Router reboot just to make sure.

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

That's a guest network I've set up using YazFi

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

    Sorry, here's the output again.

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

This is the output I take it then it all looks normal then? Looks like it's coming back with all ports closed. But then I don't understand why RTMON lists port 53 as open in the initial screenshot I posted in Post#3?

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

@ColinTaylor This is what I get, (I've put an x at a few places):

RTRMON Should Port 53 Be Closed?

@ColinTaylor Sure. I've uploaded an example screenshot from the opening post of the RTMON thread to give an idea. Basically, underneath where it says WAN0 IP for me it shows the following: I also have the same for the local network too. It's for both tcp and udp.
