Seems like my OpenVPN server has been hacked

What we've been talking about here is having your own OpenVPN server running on your Merlin router. Connecting to a commercial OpenVPN provider's server as a client has a different (much smaller) set of issues. As an OpenVPN client you want to be sure that the server you're connecting to is in...

Seems like my OpenVPN server has been hacked

Everything seems to be working great, and it's been very quiet up in the more rarefied air of "unassigned" ports. AsusWRT- Merlin is super convenient for generating matching OpenVPN client files, but I actually wanted to have multiple unique clients and a GUI to manage the lot. I'm using xca...

Seems like my OpenVPN server has been hacked

I'm not so sure that you've actually been hacked, but rather the hackers have been knocking right at the door. I recently updated an RT-AC68U on a release from last year to 384.6 and some of those same UNDEF entries showed up immediately. None were showing before the upgrade. Looking in the...

Can't Port Forward from Internet via Bi-directional OpenVPN Tunnel to Client

Actually, since I wrote this post last month, I have figured out how to do this. As you said outgoing connections work fine, and that's the basis of my original post and my solution. Probably the best way to describe this is as a "Reverse VPN", where a router-based OpenVPN client on a cellular...

AC68U 384.6 not importing OpenVPN certs or saving them if manually entered

It seems like a factory reset would be in order at this point. You could also try flashing back to stock firmware to verify that you can save a CA there. Either way, one or more factory resets wouldn't hurt.

AC68U 384.6 not importing OpenVPN certs or saving them if manually entered

Just took a look at a sample Torguard .ovpn file and it looks like this: client dev tun remote chi.central.usa.torguardvpnaccess.com 443 udp remote chi.central.usa.torguardvpnaccess.com 443 tcp resolv-retry infinite nobind persist-key persist-tun setenv CLIENT_CERT 0 <ca> -----BEGIN...

AC68U 384.6 not importing OpenVPN certs or saving them if manually entered

Does the OpenVPN config, as generated by Torguard, work if you load it into a standalone PC client? You can download and install one from here: https://openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/downloads.html If it doesn't work in a standalone client it won't work in AsusWRT-Merlin.

Can't Port Forward from Internet via Bi-directional OpenVPN Tunnel to Client

The short version of the story is that I have an OpenVPN client/server setup where the client is on cellular Internet (private IP) and the server has a public IP. I want to port forward from the OpenVPN server router using it's public IP to the client. The setup seems solid in that I can ping...

Raspberry Pi OpenWRT (LEDE fork - ROOter build) PIA OpenVPN Client

In case you missed it, this thread and the one you used for setting up OpenVPN, are both using ROOter (which is a special build of OpenWRT/LEDE oriented towards cellular modem users). I take it you're using vanilla OpenWRT/LEDE, rather than ROOter. The instructions would be mostly the same...

Raspberry Pi OpenWRT (LEDE fork - ROOter build) PIA OpenVPN Client

Most of the instructions in these posts of mine are no longer required with the latest version of ROOter. I worked with the guys there to get the fixes and "recipes" for popular VPN services incorporated into the release. That being said, given that the process starts but quickly ends, you're...

Two WAN Gateways on One WAN Port

I have a configuration where I have an RT-AC3100 as a primary router, with two additional outdoor routers connected to the WAN port of the AC3100. The two WAN routers are both PoE devices on a single Ethernet cable. One of the WAN routers is a Ubiquiti NanoStation operating in "Station" mode...

Tutorial How to setup a VPN Server with Asus routers 380.68 updated 08.24

This is standard behavior in Windows File Explorer. Any network file shares you access that aren't found by Windows network browsing (like those on different subnets), e.g. those you access over the VPN by "\\x.x.x.x" will temporarily continue to show in Windows Explorer -- at least for that...

Tutorial How to setup a VPN Server with Asus routers 380.68 updated 08.24

Maybe another (better) way to say it is: On your OpenVPN client computer, go to Windows File Explorer and enter "\\192.168.1.181" up at the top of the screen where your current file path is showing.

Tutorial How to setup a VPN Server with Asus routers 380.68 updated 08.24

If your NAS has an http:// webpage you're trying to access. Open your favorite browser and type "http://192.168.1.181" or "http://192.168.1.181/ui" if that doesn't work. I'm guessing you're seeing this page because you started in Windows File Explorer and forgot to type the "\\" before the IP.

Tutorial How to setup a VPN Server with Asus routers 380.68 updated 08.24

In Windows File Explorer, on the OpenVPN client, did you type "\\192.168.1.181"? Without the quotes of course...

Tutorial How to setup a VPN Server with Asus routers 380.68 updated 08.24

No. The username and password used by Asus OpenVPN is only for OpenVPN. Are you connecting by tunnel (TUN) or bridge (TAP)? With a TUN connection you'll be able to access devices by IP address. You won't be able to "see" those resources as Windows network browsing doesn't cross subnets.

    OpenVPN Between Two Asus Routers

I'd suggest screenshots are still a good idea, no matter how much they seem redundant. I'm sure there are at least a few unique settings! Be sure to obscure the few fields that contain sensitive info, Nimbus Screenshot is a great tool for this kind of thing. The fact that you're getting two...

site to site vpn and remote vpn clients.

We're going to need a bit more detail here. Do you have two VPNs running? It sounds like you have a LAN to LAN VPN which is working fine and then you're connecting a remote client to one of the LANs via another VPN and you can't see the remote LAN from that remote client -- is that correct...

Plex Remote Access on asuswrt Merlin close but not working

@Diego welcome to SNBForums! For future reference, though technically your answer was correct based on the subject of this thread -- if you read the first post you'll see this was a much more complicated issue involving the use of a VPN and policy routing with Plex.

Tutorial How to setup a VPN Server with Asus routers 380.68 updated 08.24

Getting an indirect connection with Plex (which means relay servers are being used) and connection errors with Subsonic strongly suggests problems with your public IP. Assuming your ISP gives you a Public IP (most do, though people using cellular for Internet at home usually don't), the most...
