XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

Yes, full gigabit if not a little more. I honestly don’t even have a computer or device cable of saturating a gigabit link to test it.

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

Long time ago. I got two from someone in this thread. They’ve been working great. Had to set them up on d-band high to keep them stable. I also isolated all the X1 boxes for the hell of it. Even after the isolation, the gocoax didn’t work well with default settings so d-band high they stay.

www.gocoax.com is the only place as far as I know. Currently they’re out of stock, but they have shipped two batches so far.

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

I got some additional moca filters from the tech this morning just incase someone still felt this was a good thing to do. Not sure it’s gonna matter a whole lot, but I can do it.

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

Done deal. I ordered a few 2 way to have on hand in case I ever need to cease using the “device port” on the MOCA adapters and a 3 way for the living room where I gotta feed the DVR, X1 modem, and MOCA adapter.

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

Ya I’m not using the power inserter connection that makes use of the RF+POWER port. I’m just using the port that’s only labeled for power in and going direction from power outlet>power supply>coax>to power in port. I did see there were other odd ways to deliver the power, but there all only to...

Also, I see everyone in here recommends the Holland splitters and I’m just curious what everyone’s thoughts are on the BAMF splitters available on amazon? The description kinda convinced me that they may be more purpose built, but now that I’ve done some more reading the past few days it just...

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

This may very well be the case, because my “companion boxes” are both essentially dvrless main X1 boxes... the XG2v2 both have 4 tuners, ethernet ports, the whole nine. They’re the primary boxes deployed as a standalone solution when the customer doesn’t want/need a dvr. They’re not your typical...

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

I’ve pulled up the service menu on every X1 device and confirm that they all have MOCA active, but they all show “noLink” and they also have no MOCA transmissions in their transmission table... which is grime because they all still function properly (playback recorded content room to room and...

Yes, its a Commscope CSMAPDU9VPI. The new equivalent version of the PPC 9M-U/U appears to have better specs, but the Comcast guy said they don’t use them anymore. Maybe you can also give me your opinion of the two on a spec vs. spec basis and also comment as to whether only ports 2,3,4,6,7,8 on...

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

I did a lot, I mean a lot of reading in old threads both here and on dslreports in which you’ve posted tons of invaluable information. I’ve since made the following changes... I just had Comcast come by this morning and give me a new Commscope 9 port MOCA 0 gain amp (guy said they don’t use PPC...

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

You do realize that from the wall jack at BOTH locations that are to have a Motorola adapter there is only one coax and the same coax has to be used for both an x1 device and the Motorola adapter and that both devices utilize moca d band frequencies? Short of having another coax that runs...

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

I don’t see how... all the possible filters and splitters are already in place. You can’t filter anymore then I’ve already done otherwise you’d be filtering out the frequencies both networks use to function.

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

I don’t see how I could possibly split the two apart via filters when the two different networks are literally on the same coax (there is only one coax feeding each drop) at both drops? Do they have individual moca channel filters? I’m sure they do, but that would possibly break x1 in the future...

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

Yes, there is a POE filter on the feed coax entering the attic and the only other splitter in the house is moca capable. It’s not possible to put moca filters anywhere else in house as the two places the adapters are going are pulling double duty... xfinity x1 devices and Motorola moca adapters.

Ookla speedtest plus others. They were all the same. Also, like I mentioned the adapters configuration page isn’t very friendly and I don’t remember if giving any indication as to whether it was 2.0 bonded or not.

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

Both networks are completely separate. The only way you can say they may be intertwined is by virtue of the lan of the ATT network existing over top the same coax as xfinity’s X1 moca network. Xfinity’s Internet is completely separate all together. Also, it would never be possible to isolate...

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

No, never even looked into it. I’m guessing that would open up a whole other can of worms. What adapter do you have in mind?

    MoCA 2.5 adapters?

Thank you for the reply. I went ahead and did as you suggested and made a post. I typed it all up while I’m at work, so hopefully I didn’t miss anything important. Thanks for the help. The post is over here...

XG1v4 DVR / XG2v2 STB and Moca 2.0 home network setup advice

Due to some personal reasons I currently have internet service from both XFINITY and ATT (gigabit fiber). I also subscribe to XFINITY’s X1 platform for cable tv service. My wired (networks) are setup as follows... XFINITY Coax comes in through the attic and is terminated with a moca filter and...
