    Asus PCE-88. Any good?

Great news, well hopefully it'll fix my driver issues and increase performance from my AC56 usb adapter.

    Asus PCE-88. Any good?

    How do you find performance?

    Asus PCE-88. Any good?

Hello, I currently have an Asus AC56 USB WiFi adapter, which has an annoying issue (randomly loses connection) with Windows 10 which has never been fixed. I have also tried the work around to install the realtek drivers, which still doesn't fix the drop outs. Until I can get a cable...

    Asus AC-RP56

So I've just replicated the WiFi but kept the RP56 as it's own set of SSDIDs. Isn't doing a great job but it's better than before, just not great throughput.

    Asus AC-RP56

No, as the only place for power is near the laptop. As I said, it's not a big house. Think I'll avoid powerline/any more repeaters as they just don't seem worth the hassle. Maybe I'll look into ubiquiti in the future if it's any better...

    Asus AC-RP56

I have connected directly tot he RP56. Though it is quite flakey. I've been tempted to move from Asus to ubquiti for a while...may be this is the time. I can't think of any other reasonable solution to be honest.

    Asus AC-RP56

Hey Thanks for the response. The problem I have is we're in a UK semi-detached house which is on the smaller end of the spectrum. My partner has a desk in our extension, which is near the patio. She gets good WiFi signal, but out on the patio - which we are preparing for summer (hence wanting...

    Asus AC-RP56

So for various reasons I bought but it seems really poor? The web interface seems to be totally unreliable as does any connection via the device. The device is plugged in, set to repeater mode under my partners work laptop - yet when the device is active she experienced many connectivy issues...

    UniFi Dream Machine

Would the flex hd connect wirelessly to the UDM and then feed that to a switch?
  10. R

    UniFi Dream Machine

Yes, UDM is WiFi 5, but I guess as Trip said, it’s wave 2 - the ubiquiti software looks slick too.

    UniFi Dream Machine

I think I’m going to stick with a mesh. Doesn’t seem like there’s an elegant solution other than having a disk on my desk. The Ubiquiti stuff seems slick, just not for my specific case.

    UniFi Dream Machine

So I would have: UDM > wireless uplink > AP > Switch > devices which AP? I know you recommended the Orbi Pros, but I’ll either go with this or the Asus mesh.

    UniFi Dream Machine

Is this possible: I want a dream machine (other option is Asus zenwifi XT8) downstairs, wirelessly uplinked to an AP upstairs, the AP feeding a switch which will allow me to hardwire the NAS and PC upstairs?

[Maylyn - Networking] ASUS ZenWiFi XT8

Sorry to be clear - what I want is 160mhz for the backhaul, which sounds like it should be available in the UK.

[Maylyn - Networking] ASUS ZenWiFi XT8

One query - anyone know if the 160mhz band is available in the UK?
  16. R

[Maylyn - Networking] ASUS ZenWiFi XT8

to me you have this the wrong way - the blazing WiFi backhaul is impressive.

[Maylyn - Networking] ASUS ZenWiFi XT8

Hey, there is a YouTube review up now. It gives a decent view of backhaul speed - which seems very good. No idea how far apart the nodes were though.

    RT-AX88U Router + ZenWifi XT8 Nodes?

Yeah...really desperate to move from my home plugs!! Leaning to this over the alien...but I who knows. Backbone is key for me(wifi)

    RT-AX88U Router + ZenWifi XT8 Nodes?

Gah, Amazon are still showing 3 months for the xt8 set (uk) I’m interested in the [pc > wired > xt8 node > WiFi6 backhaul > xt8 node > wired > pc] performance...can’t see anything online yet though.

[Maylyn - Networking] ASUS ZenWiFi XT8

Can you answer this.....if I wanted fast, stable backbone performance - is this the kit for me? Low latency too. Distance is relatively small.
