    Router shutdown script

Ha! True enough.... I guess I was thinking on the lines of automated shutdown on a signal from a UPS that the gig is up (battery exhausted). Maybe I am overthinking it.

    Router shutdown script

The services-stop script gets called by the OS, usually during a reboot sequence. That script is not likely to be called on a halt command. If your objective is to safely shutdown PostgreSQL, you can call the PostgreSQL init.d unit script with "stop" as an argument to shutdown PostgreSQL...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8_2 is now available

Did you look at the syslog for clues as to what the router was having issues with?

Powering a 19V Asus Router with a USB-PD laptop Cord?

In that case, the OP should be fine. That said, I have always found that ASUS provides PS that are minimum in size. Back in the day of the AC86U famous hang on reboot issue, I solved mine by replacing the PS with a 20V 4A supply. I suspect it is the initial surge at power up that is the most...

Powering a 19V Asus Router with a USB-PD laptop Cord?

Both adapters that you have referenced are good for 65W (about 3A at 19V). Check your router PS and see what the specs are. As long as PS you are proposing to use is rated at the same or more power than the Asus supplied PS AND that rating does not exceed 65W (the limit this adapter can...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8_2 is now available

Thanks @eibgrad. I love reading your detailed responses. For my use case, yes I have (and soon plan on again) run NGINX on the router as a reverse proxy to two web services (family Nextoud server and a website for our local Catholic church group) inside my LAN. As such, my interest is to...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8_2 is now available

So that I am understanding this behaviour correctly, if I wanted to host my own website (using the router as reverse proxy), then I am not able to setup NGINX to listen on both port 80 and 443 as the firmware is refusing to release port 80? It is usually pretty standard to put a redirect in...

YazDHCP YazDHCP - feature expansion of DHCP assignments (increasing limit on the number of DHCP reservations)

From YazDHCP, I am not sure - I don't use the script. However, I do have IP reservations set up for MAC address inside my guest network using a dnsmasq.conf.add config script, so is possible.

    Cloudflared Tunnel in RT-AC68U

Nothing noobish about it if it works and gets the job done!

SSD drive not detected/mounted on RT-AX88U Pro after router's reboot

+1 on this comment. I got burned with a jmicon controller on a 256GB SSD drive. My AC86U would not mount on boot, but was OK on hot plug. In my case the syslog did return an error. On research, the error was something about the drive not being fully powered up before the router scanned it...

    Cloudflared Tunnel in RT-AC68U

I can see possibly the tunnel failing if the WAN goes down. I would have checked and restart the tunnel, if required, on a "connected" event in the wan-event script.

RT-AX58U - Currently have Merlin 3004.388.7 - Want to revert back to factory/stock image to sell

I don't have a real computer with me at the moment, but is it not the AX58 that requires you to flash back to an older version of stock firmware, then update to recent stock?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.7 is now available

Also, to double check, you made the script executable?

Asus RT-AX88U Stuck on Merlin Firmware 388.1

Unfortunately it is not likely that you get any in-depth information on any specific wifi changes when a new GPL is merged. All the wifi components are closed source from Asus and Broadcom is natourously protective of there stuff.

Scheduling local clients (stop kids from using local Plex at night)

You could add the rule to your Plex server's firewall. Assuming it's a Linux machine. You would have to add the rule to the INPUT chain and change the interface names to match the machine's interface. Personally, and at the risk of persecution, I prefer the disapline approach. My kids...

Scheduling local clients (stop kids from using local Plex at night)

Iptables does have a match time function. The question would rather or not the router iptables implementation has the time module. And if course, your willingness to code. You would also have to give the kids devices a reserved or static DHCP address. The other option is simply to turn off...

sbnMerlin 1.2.6 - Network Isolation Tool based on Guest Networks, June 26 2024

Indeed, it does look like a candidate to replace the now unsupported YazFi script.

    Wireguard RT-AC88U Compatibility

It is a kernel age issue. Wire guard requires at least kernel version 3.1. even then, it needs to be built with specific options. The AC68U and AX88U uses a version 2.xx kernel.
