Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8 beta is now available

Aha, i see. I am running OVPN and all you need to do on their homepage is to click "open ports" and up to 8 ports are opened. Once connected to OVPN i just change my clients to use that specific port and i am connectable. Thats why i wondered, why it should be so hard to open up a port in the...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8 beta is now available

Dont get me wrong. A kill switch is a nice feature for VPN. However i think theirs a bigger need for options to open up ports in router using VPN/Wireguard. Today you need to be an linux nerd and despite reading 100+ hours of material how to open ports, using SSH, none works.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.8 beta is now available

Imagine if someone could add a table allowing you to open the port you can open at your wireguard provider. Then i would buy that person 10 coffees. This is the main reason noone is using WireGuard on AsusMerlin, as you cannot get connectable on different services like torrent.

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

Until its stated that this router support MLO STR i will not buy it. Waste of money if you have a working AX88U.

MLO: What exactly is Smart Connect's role?

I did buy an Gigabit adapter with broadcom chipset inside. It said it would support 1 Gbps. However when i connected it to my Vivobook Pro, i never seemed to achive more then 250Mbps tops (USB 3.x) I downloaded all the latest drivers. Next time, when its time to upgrade i am gonna put OLED+LAN...

MLO: What exactly is Smart Connect's role?

OK. Thanks mate for explaining. Its a bit strange, we can have OLED in laptops, superfast SSD, a good graphics card but no network port (hindering full duplex). I am much more sceptic to Wi-Fi7 now :/

MLO: What exactly is Smart Connect's role?

I guess i read it to fast. Feels stupid if they dont implement it properly. I want "basic" Full duplex, rather than windows show 4Gbps, 2Gbps is fine enough.

MLO: What exactly is Smart Connect's role?

So you mean torrents wont benefit from MLO? I mean i thought i could download on 6GHz band and upload data on 5GHz band at the same time. When i read here it says: " It's hard to argue that this isn't the case. While being able to transmit on one frequency and receive on a second frequency is...

MLO: What exactly is Smart Connect's role?

A stupid question, but isent MLO an effort to upgrade WiFi from half to full duplex (similar to a wired cable)? I guess MLO will help a lot when you have a 500/500 connection and want to download/upload at the same time???

    Samsung 5Ghz becomes 2.4 GHz

You prob right. What i have noticed though is that 2.4GHz on 5GHz band appear when i am rather far away from router. If i am like only 10meters, it always show 5GHz when connected to 5GHz band. Just installed May update now, lets see if theirs some fix for this. The reason for this post was that...

    Samsung 5Ghz becomes 2.4 GHz

I am not using Smart Connect. I have seperated my networks into Banhof-2.4Ghz and the other one to Banhof-5Ghz. I never connected with phone to 2.4Ghz. In print screen, you can see i am connected to Banhof-5Ghz, but it still shows 2.4GHz. After reading madre comments it seems like a possible...

    Samsung 5Ghz becomes 2.4 GHz

Hi! Running latest Asus Merlin firmware on my RT-AX88U. I have separated 2.4 and 5Ghz to different networks. When connecting to 5Ghz my phone time from time shows 2.4Ghz despite being connected to 5Ghz. How do i force 5Ghz only? Anyone else have this issue on Samsung S24?

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

My guess is that MSRP will be $499 for this router. Thats the list price in Hong Kong.

    ASUS Unveils RT-BE88U WiFi 7 Dual-Band Router

From my understanding MLO is the real reason to upgrade to WiFi 7 as it introduces full duplex similar to a wired connection. This could be very useful if you download and upload a lot at the same time but requires a network card that support MLO. Existing WiFi 6 cards will not support this...
