    Zyxel 8 port 2.5g $100

Funny, a half hour ago I tried connecting my Craftsman Assurelink garage door gateway to my Zyxel MG-108 and got no connection light activity. I even tried making a crossover cable and still no connection. Edit: Apparently this garage door ethernet device is known to have compatibility issues...

    Zyxel 8 port 2.5g $100

I haven't had any problems with it. As far as I can tell, it is the exact same device as TRENDnet's version but in a nice silver color.

    Router temperatures - 2023

At work I run an RT-AX86U in our receiving area "garage". In Arizona with no air conditioning. Although it is only running as an AiMesh node. I think it likes the record-breaking heat we've had this summer.

    Release ASUS GT-AX6000 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21617 (2202/11/24)

I was waiting so long for Wireguard support, and now it is here! Only to see Flow Cache gets disabled. Originally as a temporary solution, I just set up a Raspberry Pi to run Wireguard, set up easily with PiVPN. Since I have a 24/7 mini PC running, I disconnected the Raspberry Pi and ran PiVPN...

Future predictions - which AX router will be supported longest?

I think the hottest sellers are the ones most likely to earn longer support. Probably the RT-AX86U and RT-88U?

Turning mains power on/off - will it damage my router?

The useful device lifespan will not be severely shortened. You can power them down as needed by power strip.

    Wireguard and fw 3.0.0.4.388.20000?

Awesome, looking forward to having Wireguard support in the router.

    GT-AX6000 and 386.6

Do you still have your bad antenna? It would be cool to see a picture of it disassembled to show what is really inside all that plastic.

    Multi Port 2.5Gbe Switch

What USB adapters did you get? Do you like them?

My GT-AX6000 required reset after latest firmware update

Last night my GT-AX6000 stopped working after 2AM. I lost internet connectivity and could not access the web interface. I held the reset button down and was able to get in after it reset to default settings. I see now I am running firmware 3.0.0.4.386.48823. Previously, I was running...

    ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 finally announced

Would another GT-AX6000 as an AP have any advantage versus something like an Asus RT-AX86U?

    Multi Port 2.5Gbe Switch

I have been running the TrendNet switch. It has been working well with no issues. The only problem I have with it is that every time I see it, I think about how much it cost. No other network switch has ever done that to me. I keep it behind other furniture, out of sight.

Replace router antennas with simpler style?

Replace router antennas with simpler style?

Great news! I replaced the ridiculous gigantic plastic antennas on my Asus GT-AX6000 with the basic small antennas mentioned above (but in white). The most distant corner of my house was -65dBm (on average) for 5GHz. With my phone in the exact same position, I now see -62dBm. I wasn't expecting...

Replace router antennas with simpler style?

The antennas arrived at work. Since I have an RT-AX86U at work, I did an experiment with it. I tested two areas, one that was around -38 dBm, and another at -62 dBm. Then I changed the antennas to the smaller ones I ordered. I placed my phone in the same positions and gave it a few minutes. The...

Replace router antennas with simpler style?

I'm going to give it a try. I ordered the antennas in white. They will arrive tomorrow; I might get a chance to test them this weekend.

Replace router antennas with simpler style?

Would it be crazy to replace a router's antennas with something much more basic looking? I'd like to replace the massive antennas on my Asus GT-AX6000 (and maybe the RT-AX86U node) with something like this model: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082SH6QH6/?tag=snbforums-20 Looks exactly like the...

    ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 finally announced

I have completed wall mounting this router next to my other wall-mounted gear. It is secure but looks over-the-top ridiculous, even for a walk-in closet. The antennas are just so comically chunky, huge and overdone. Keeping all my network devices wall mounted together seemed ideal, but I'll...

    ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 finally announced

To answer my own question, the antennas can be made to point reasonably vertical (two point up, two point down) when this router is wall mounted. I noticed manually assigned IP addresses of the GT-AX6000 are limited to 64, while somewhere along the line the RT-AX86U had that limit upped to 128.

    ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 finally announced

I'm interested in mounting this ugly thing on a wall, because it would be mostly unseen in a closet. Is it possible for the antennas to be somewhat "vertical enough" in this position?
