    Release XT8 3.0.0.4.388_24688 just released (2024/11/28)

I agree on that. My backhaul is almost as stable as it was with the 386 branch, with the main plus that it uses the full 160mhz bandwith.

    Release XT8 3.0.0.4.388_24688 just released (2024/11/28)

I applied the the update this morning, but I also cannot find any release notes....

Looking for feedback: Anyone considering AiCloud important to them?

As long as the OpenVPN, WireGuard or local NAS (via USB) functionality exists I don’t see any reason to support AiCloud.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24684

This release is stable for 3 days now on both nodes (with wireless backhaul). However the RX rate of the wireless backhaul is not as steady as with Merlin 3.0.0.4.388.8_2-gnuton1 (TX rate level is the same). But better safe than sorry in regards of the current AiCloud malware issues.

    Malware damaging ASUS routers?

Me too, I reverted back from the latest Merlin to the latest stock. I do not use any of the AiCloud features, and also disabled the Wireguard server just to be sure and minimize external exposure. I hope Asus will provide the updated AiCloud and other closed source components soon, so I can...

Solved RT-AX86U - Stuck on old firmware (solved!), WiFi not working (solved!)

I do not agree with you on the point of not being safer with the latest stock firmware. Asus has released new firmwares since the 4th of November in regards of this vulnerability. This vulnerability also affects the Merlin firmwares, since the vulnerability is likely to be part of the (closed...

Solved RT-AX86U - Stuck on old firmware (solved!), WiFi not working (solved!)

Can CrashXRu confirm that this vulnerability only excists when you activate AiCloud or DDNS? To be on the safe side I switched from the latest Merlin to the latest stock Asus firmware (Nov 4, 2024).

    Malware damaging ASUS routers?

That’s a pretty f***ed-up situation :-(. I hope there somebody can develop a method to restore bricked devices via serial connection.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24684

Flashed this version on my (secondary) AiMesh node and until now it is working fine with my primary router (with latest Merlin).

    Malware damaging ASUS routers?

I'm very curious if the Merlin releases are also affected with this security issue, because I cannot find anything on the Merlin github website.

Release ASUS ZenWIFI XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24621

Thanks for sharing this. After 13 days of uptime (with Merlin) I ran in to backhaul issues. When I r Thanks for the advise, I was not aware of the recommendation to leave the node on stock firmware.

Release ASUS ZenWIFI XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24621

I switched to the latest Merlin firmware and this works better, but still not as stable as the (386) 48706 version.

wlceventd: _add_wlc_event_tbl client table was full ?

My xt8 also reports this message (at ~ 2:00am) were after the wireless backhaul fails and drops to 2,4GHz. I need to reboot the node to solve this issue for another 24 hours.

Release ASUS ZenWIFI XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24621

I tried this version for 3 days, but unfortunately my setup ran in to wireless backhaul issues. It keeps reverting back to 2,4GHz and 20mhz bandwidth. I downgraded to version 48706 and everything is rock solid again. I decided that I leave it this way and take the vulnerabilities for granted.

Release ASUS ZenWIFI XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24621

Thanks for the quick response. In that case I will try this latest version, because it adds important security fixes.

Release ASUS ZenWIFI XT8 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24621

I'm facing similar issues/challenges with 48706. I have a rock solid uptime and connectivity stability with 48706, which was never the case with any trailing update. So far any update onwards 48706 results in backhaul connectivity issues and poor performance. Merlin is no option for me since I'm...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23285

The need for scheduled reboots says it all, and confirms instability. I do not perform any scheduled reboots on my gear. My previous router (Apple time capsule) easily reached an uptime of 1 year. My XT8 are HW v1 units.

Release ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23285

This version (3.0.0.4.388.23285) didn't work for me nor with automatic or manual setting. I switched back to firmware Version:3.0.0.4.386_48706 and everything is rocksolid (with auto setting) for 63 days (including the wireless backhaul). I won't upgrade my gear, despite the advantage of...

Release ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23285

What is the advantage (beside security fixes) to use 388.2_2_0-gnuton1 with manual settings over 386_48706 that performs rock solid on auto/default settings? I'm sceptic to upgrade due to my bad experience regards version 388_23012 & 388_23285, with auto or manual settings.
