New Around Here
Hi, I just bought ASUS GT-AX11000 Pro router. I'm not sure about this 10GE WAN/LAN port. My ISP modem speed is only 500mbps for now. So no need to use anything other than 2.5GE WAN port. OTH, I'd like to use 10GE LAN port to a switch.

Is there an option I need to set in the router menu to designate it as LAN vs. WAN port? Or it's automatical.

In the WAN section under Dual WAN you can change your primary WAN speed depending on your overall Speed from your ISP

like I said, my download speed from ISP is only 500mbps, so no need to change on WAN. I just plug cat 6 cable between modem and 2.5GE port. Am I supposed to do something else?

I was asking how to enable 10GE on "10GE WAN/LAN port". Is it automatically switched to LAN if not getting data from modem?

No. If you make no changes your default WAN port is the 2.5GbE blue port, 10GbE white port is LAN. Why don't you read the User Manual?

I tried. Couldn't find any manual online other than the quickstart guide. Frankly I never needed a manual before when using older ASUA router.

Anyway, it's what I thought, but good to confirm (btw, I don't see it explained on the manual, 150+ pages).
