380.61 firmware does not show in Portal on RT AC68U

I have an T-Mobile Asus AC1900 router which I flashed and updated to custom Merlin build firmware. I was initially on 376.47 version. I tried to upgrade to latest 380.61 and upload of .trx file from the web site was a success. No errors and all settings were applied thoroughly. The router works flawlessly. However, when I login to ASUS Wifi GUI portal it still keeps showing 376.47; I tried reboot several times but no luck.

anyone with similar issue and have a resolution?

I had the same problem today, however I found the answer.
You have to perform an intermediate update to version: 378.55_0
After you update to the intermediate version, the latest version will work.

I was using FireFox but the issue is fixed. I had to apply intermediate firmware first level 376.55
