388.1 Rt-AX58U unable to flash back to stock

Hi, updated my RT-AX58U to Merlin 388.1. Now trying to revert to stock FW_RT_AX58U_300438822237.w, also tried FW_RT_AX3000_300438822525.w. GUI Firmware write fails, with "firmware upgrade unsuccessful"
Tried rescue mode upgrade. That fails too with Router not in recuse mode.

SSH command line upgrade fails with:

Any suggestions how to get back to stock?

Going back to Asus stock on the AX58U/3000, you must flash 386.45898 first. Then you can upgrade to the latest 388.22525.

Was able to revert to FW_RT_AX3000_300438822525.w using recovery mode.

You have to put the router into recovery mode. The trick is pulling the power plug and while holding the reset button with a toothpick and plugging the power back in the light will blink slowly when in recovery mode.

Wrong. If you just would have flashed 386.45898 then you are free to install anything after. The latest being 388.22525.
