Hi. Sorry to just be a blow in butI'm hoping to get some fresh information about the ASUS 4G AC68U. I bought this modem because i live in the bush and have no land line and most likely never will. I do however live less than 800m from a Vodafone tower and have had a sneaky good connection for many years. I Mostly play and stream simulators and games on PC and PS4. I average a 20ms ping with 4-5MB/s download. Ive had modems from a USB stick to a Huawei box of some sort and never had connection issues. Another reason i bought this modem is because im very interested in learning a lot more about networking as i alway like to be an above average user. I'm actually on my scond 4G AC68U because the first one got sent back because of constant drop outs and not just that it also does not re establish connection. It gets jammed on a 3G signal and need to reboot to establish a 4G connection. I run this modem with dual WAN disabled and have the sim card installed in the 4G AC68U. When i was playing with the first modem i tried everything i could find online but the same problems persisted. Ive tried factory resets, re install firmware, auto settings, manual setting, pretty much everything i can find online. I have also contacted ASUS support multiple times and they have assured me that it should be functioning correctly on auto settings. I am now on my second modem and have the same issues. Also, when the first one was returned and checkd by the supplier they said it was defective and thats why they sent me a new one. I have a feeling that this modem should be recalled. Hardly anyone uses it so info online is rare for this exact model. I would love to hear that someone has this modem and it functions correctly. I also acknowledge that the Merlin firmware is not compatible with the 4G AC68U. Also, if this thing is a complete wate of my money then i would love to hear from an ASUS representative so that i can return it for the second time and source another 4G LTE modem. I would actually like this one funtioning correctly because when it works its superior to any other modem ive had.
