New Around Here
Just loaded the Merlin FW on the Asus RT-AX86U Pro and lost the Internet connection, while still connected to the ISP on WAN port 1GB.

Checked the settings and the menu for 802.1Q VLAN tagging was gone and in order to make it work again, I had to go to LAN\IPTV and set the VID to let VLAN tagging be added and it now works again.

Is there any reason why the 802.1q menu is left out of the WAN settings?

The original Asus firmware menu looked like this under WAN\Internet Connection:

Sorry I'm new to the forum, if suggestions should be put somewhere else :)

Mike

I believe you were previously using the 3.0.0.6 firmware branch. VLANs are handled differently in the older 3.0.0.4 branch that Merlin uses. In that the LAN/IPTV section is where it should be configured.
Thanks Colin, perhaps this will change if/when Merlin will be using FW 3.x.x.x branch and I don't know the right section to add a feature req. about this, but if it is a part of the new FW than I guess it will automatically be added in future releases and don't require a request. It makes perfectly sense to add the 802.1q menu in WAN settings, as a lot of ISP uses VLAN tagging, even though the line is not separated into categories like IPTV and VoIP, to insure a router separation and avoid direct PC/NIC etc. connections. Regards Mike

Yes, Merlin's 3006 firmware for supported devices (I have GT-BE98 Pro) actually has a separate VLAN tab under LAN settings. There is no confirmation that Merlin will move the RT-AX86U Pro to the 3006 firmware in the future.
