Has been running for ages on Merlin FW. Today I woke up to find the router was down. I can not connect to the Web IF, and have tried HW resetting to no avail. All I get is a rapidly flashing Power Light and LAN activity lights on any port plugged in. I've tried the recovery and discovery tools from Asus and they can not find the router either.

I guess I'm going off to buy a 87u but would be good to get this going as a AP at some point.

Thanks
Nathan

Can you make a video?

Set your NIC with static IP (192.168.1.10) and try to ping your router IP (192.168.1.1) or access via http://192.168.1.1

Try also press WPS before turning on the router and keep it for 5-10 seconds after power on to clean nvram.

You can try also press RESET without release before turn on the router until you see power led blink (bootloader recovery mode) via http://192.168.1.1

Thanks for the quick reply - I've tried all of those and nothing.... just the fast blinking power (and back) light + LAN activity light.

Probably is dead then, but it would be interesting seeing a video.

RT-AC68U dying from nothing it's odd.

Yeah my 66u(s) just keep going. Anyway - got the 87u configured on Merlin so up and going again.

What do you want to see in the video?

Thanks
Nathan

To see exactly the state of the router, if its too much work then send it back (RMA), probably its dead.

Exactly what you described, but never seen it on that state before, i guess is time to RMA. Sorry about that :|

He already tried to go to Recovery Mode, the problem is that by the ASUS indication that state means WPS is Processing, so there's no way to upload the FW unless his able to put the router in Recovery Mode.

Thanks - I'll RMA it next week unless anyone has any other idea to try.

That is definitely bricked (due to corrupt CFE?) because if the mini CFE upgrade server in between bootup and firmware loading can't be accessed (by your video, no LAN or WLAN activity and recovery mode is essentially booting to mini CFE server), then there is no way to flash over a bad flash.

Yeah, RMA-ing is the best route unless you could JTAG it?

No JTAG working yet on AC68U, also if it's on warranty there's no need to.
