I have a Asus AC3000 (CT8) router connected to a Virgin Hub 4 (modem mode). Two of the routers ports are linked to fixed PC's and the third a hub. It has been working brilliantly since September.
But on Saturday I noticed the wired PC's and devices on the hub could not be pinged and nor could they access anything including the internet. But all my devices connected via wi-fi were not affected at all.
Anyway I tried:
- full factory reset on routers = no joy
- switched off mesh system and put Hub4 back into router mode = all works ok
- rang Asus - they sent me a two new routers. Set it up = still same problem with ethernet connected devices
Swore a bit and a bit more
- factory reset of Hub 4 = no joy.
Anyone any clues.,
Ive reverted back to the Hub 4 for the time being
Given that it all works ok in Hub4 router mode I can discount wiring etc. The Asus router log files are showing a dnsmasq[5622]: failed to send packet: Resource temporarily unavailable error quite a lot.
Like I say nothing has changed in the config on either the Hub4 or the Asus router in the last 3 months. The Asus hasnt had a firmware update either recently. It's on the Aug update.
One weird thing is if I ping say 8.8.8.8 I get an unresolved (or similar) error. But I noticed if I made changes to the configuration in the router and it restarts you get a few ping resolves ok then it fails again.
