I was running the latest Merlin 384.7_2 when the wifi became unstable. Tried to get into the GUI to roll back to the previous firmware but the GUI wouldn't come up. I tried to reboot with the power button but it refused to come back.

The "internet" light comes on with the power, then after a couple of seconds it switches to the power light (on solid), and that's it. I tried multiple 30-30-30 resets, and the Asus guide to getting into recovery mode in hopes of flashing factory firmware again, but nothing worked. So it's sitting here in front of me on the desk, and I have a mega-old Cisco-Netgear running that I pulled out of the closet.

Scared of the internet right now without Skynet to protect me.

1) Any troubleshooting tips?
2) Any cyber-monday deals y'all have seen on a Merlin-compatible router?

30-30-30 reset isn’t compatible with an Asus router.

Have you tried this?

Q: How do I put the router into Recovery Mode?

A: Turn the router off. Press the reset button, and while keeping it pressed turn it back on. Wait a few seconds until the power led blinks, and then release the reset button. Router will now be in Recovery Mode, reachable at 192.168.1.1.

Yep. Thanks for the reply; tried that several times. Power light never blinks; it comes on solid.

Just grabbed a refurb'd RT-AC87U off Newegg for $147 after shipping. :/

I found on the forum that Merlin posted this procedure:

1) Turn the router off
2) Press the WPS button
3) While pressing it, turn it on
4) Wait about 10 seconds, then release it

b&h has 86u for 160
I think it's a better deal

Well, thanks for that... @scjr - tried that several times with no luck. @indark... the new 87 has showed up. Mebbe next time. :)
