Yeah i know that, there were alot models in the past never released.

Can you tell me if the 3.0 USB problems are fixed by now? And whats the latest PCB revision of it? The last one i've seen was 1.7, not sure if theres a new one.

From what i've seen you talking you believe RT-AC87U will be supported by you / asuswrt even with Quantenna chip right? I wonder if in terms of CPU / RAM will be too much differences to AC68U...

USB3 support will always be high dependent on your specific disk. My own USB 3.0 had no issue at all on my RT-AC68U, while Tim's USB disk would interfere.

At this point we know next to nothing about the RT-AC87U, so it's impossible for me to tell if I will be supporting it or not. All we know is that it will run the same firmware as other Asus routers - that does not automatically mean I will be supporting it.

This is my first post.

I just picked up a new AC-68U manufactured in 2014.

The clerk told me the newer stock starts with serial #DC....

I have read that while hardware revision still shows A1, there are four or more PCB versions. The newest being in the 1.7x range.

Is there a way to telnet into the unit to determine what version one has inside?

nvram get boardrev
nvram get HW_ver

That commands should work.

My pre-owned AC86U arrived today and is hardware revision A1 manufactured in 2014. I can't seem to find anything that details the different H/W revisions and their differences.
