New Around Here
I have recently bought the AC86U to replace my AC66U, have been running AsusWRT-Merlin for a while now.

I was trying to setup my printer using WPS, but I found out it not to be working properly... such an odd behavior. I barely use WPS, I was only going to use it for the printer because it's so much easier.

System logs only show the wps process starting...
"Dec 3 13:53:56 rc_service: httpd 752:notify_rc start_wps_method"

...but it never does. It does not succeed or give any fail message, the loading ring keeps going and going forever.

I found out whenever I try to use WPS, it just wipes my Wireless configuration. It removes both my 2.4ghz and 5ghz SSID's and changes it to "Asus_B8_2G" and "Asus_B8_5G" respectively, both Open - wipes the password as well. It does not wipe the static channels I have setup, though.

I have had this happen twice today. Printer keeps trying to connect but fails. I have tried to reset the WPS process multiple times, it doesn't work. I have no idea where it is getting these SSIDs from, I have never set it up this way.

When I installed Merlin I have done a factory reset twice. Now I have Diversion, Entware, OpenVPN and Wireguard running, I wouldn't want to do another factory reset unless I have to. Just wondering if this is a known bug or something else.

Thank you.

Because you are using Merlin and he doesn’t have access to the Mesh code I think this could be the issue here and although you are trying to use WPS I think there is a clash. He could perhaps enlighten. (I know it’s not related)

When I got mine the other day I tested the AI Mesh using Stock firmware before moving to Merlin. WPS worked using stock but not after I installed Merlin.

It’s also best practice to have WPS disabled. I know this isn’t much of a answer but to say I had the same thing happen.

Now I’m running Merlin I just disabled WPS.
