Ever since updating my AC87 to the latest firmware the disk health scanner finds the same corrupt file every time it runs. It's a jpeg file, which I hunted down and deleted from the disk, however, it still insists on finding it every night when I scheduled for the scanner to run. I'm getting loads of these folders created over a period of time. Any ideas?

Since your disk is formatted in NTFS, I recommend plugging it to your PC, and running a disk scan from there.

Cheers! That seems to have done it. I guess the built in disk check routine isn't 100%. Thanks Merlin!

NTFS is a proprietary filesystem, so companies such as Paragon or Tuxera that implement Linux support for it must rely on reverse engineering, meaning their implementation can ever be 100% efficient, and the filesystem repair tools will always be more basic. Also, the router lacks the necessary RAM to be able to do a complete filesystem check/fix on a large HDD.

This issue came back. The really weird thing is that the file which it says is corrupted no longer exists! It must be a bad index version of the file stored on the router and then being copied/corrupted to/on the NAS? Anyway, I have to unmount and plug it into a Windows machine to repair, then it seems to work again, but for how long I'm not sure. Possibly it started happening again after my most recent router crash, which happens often unfortunately....

Do you absolutely need this disk to be NTFS?
If not, reformat it to ext3 or ext4 and you'll have native Linux support from your router and your NAS
