AC87R vs AC87U

Hi, I am wondering what the difference is between the AC87U and AC87R I know the r is the retail version but is there any difference with performance or hardware or anything.

The firmwares are totally identical bit for bit, except for their filenames.

Not true. Best Buy has price-matched the previous 4 Asus "R" routers I've purchased with their "U" counterparts

R is for Best Buy, everyone else sells it as U. W is for white.

That's all you need to know.

R = Retail Shop version
U = Online Shop version

Basically they are same. I have seen some Retail shops selling U version.

You are corrected on that. Must be sold from Amazon first hand, no 3rd party re-sellers. Also I've had 3 different BB stores all match "R" router prices with the "U" version. I just explain to the person doing the price match that BOTH versions are exactly the same model, just that the letter differs from BB stores to online retailers. Haven't been rejected once yet. Strange.
