New Around Here
Hi All,

Virgin are upgrading our fibre to their Vivid 200 Gamer pipe in early Feb as part of a package upgrade.

We're currently using an Asus AC87u which has given sterling service over the last couple of years or so. However with 2 x teenagers in the house constantly gaming, streaming, together with a multitude of devices , just wondered if its worth upgrading to the extra punch of the 88u.

I'm avoiding tri-bands as we had no end of issues with both an Asus and D-link dropping connections and causing absolute havoc with our NEST thermostat, cameras etc., so thought t the dual band of the AC88u would be a wiser choice.

Any advice, feedback would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I agree with wojowojo above. Only replace something if either it's no longer working or it can't keep up anymore with your needs.

then you where lucky and got a good one

unles the 87u is showing signs of stress or bogging down caused by congestion on the lan/wlan then there would be little benefit at this stage unless you want to start running some hard core firewall rules and such at the users and it would then start to tax the 87u

that old addage if it aint broke dont fix it comes to mind though
