AC88U Dual Wan from Arris DG3270

I just replaced my Ac66U with an AC88U router. I have two cable modems in my house because the original
modem/router/wireless one would not play well with my security cameras. I have the wan port connected
to the standard cable modem. I was wondering if I could use one of the LAN ports to connect to WAN port 1 on the new router to dual a dual WAN setup? The IP address from the modem/router would be a 192.168.0.??
and my AC88U is using 192.168.1.??..


Would that work? I do not use the wireless from the cable modem router with wireless.

You have 2 modems, but how many ISP connections and what speed?

Both modems are from the same ISP, both are 100 down connections with a different IP address. One goes into an Arris DG3270 wireless router
the other into a straight cable modem. Just wondering if I could use the dual wan feature with those two connections.

Reading Dual WAN related threads on SNB I would say it's more trouble than benefit.
Why pay for 2 ISP connections in first place? Isn't it cheaper to get one with faster speeds?

only possible if it is one provider and a special device that also has 2 ports
in this case, you get full aggregation of channels
otherwise, you can configure traffic priority for WAN1 and WAN2 or make a reservation in case of failure of one of the modems

In my IT world Dual WAN and WAN Aggregation are different things. This thread is about Dual WAN.

I start to believe the language barrier is part of the problem here:

- like balancing channels between different providers or connection points
- as a fault tolerance connection of one or more providers or connection points

In my place we use something called "specifications".
RT-AC88U <- I don't know if you can see the model number well.

What's available on this router model:
Dual WAN - YES
Link Aggregation - YES
WAN Aggregation - NO

We also make a difference between Dual WAN, Link Aggregation and WAN Aggregation.
