Hi

I have got the scenario below :

Cable modem router Motorola (SB5101) public ip address --> connected WAN port of Netgear FSV318 public ip address.

LAN port Netgear FSV318 with static address 192.168.0.1 --> Connected to WAN port for Wireless D-Link DI-524, with static address 192.168.0.2.

D-Link DI-524 LAN with static ip address 10.10.0.1--> Laptop connected wirelessly

Printer (static address 192.168.0.24) and desktop (static address 192.168.0.11) are connected wired to the Netgear FSV318

DHCP are on for both routers

By using laptop I can surf the net and I can ping the printer and Desktop,,,,,,but I can not print and I can not access the shared folder on the desktop ?

First I created one rule for port forwarding on Dlink

Allow traffic coming from WAN ip addrresse (192.168.0.1-192.168.02.55) to LAN for any protocol with any port.

Then I created a second rule for allowing traffic that is generation from LAN to any WAN ip addresses for any port

Although those rules are broad I just want to create them to find out if that would work or not

Note:
1- I know if all gears are on one network (Netgear FSV318 to D-link LAN port ) then it will work without any problem.

2- I do not have the option to configure a static route or a dynamic routing protocol on the D-Link router

3- I did configure port forwarding on D-link router without any success

Thanks

Thanks Tim for "How To" article it is really useful and it has been explained in an informative way, although I serached google for a while I could not find it.

But when I was reading in other forum someone pointed me to smallnetbuilder.com

I have to go through your atricle more than one time and I will post any concern that I have got.

Thanks

This was a problem due to site changeover and is fixed now. sorry for the problem.

another place double nat fails is with games that use the gamespy service (i dont know why) For example, when a single nat is used, Ghost REcon Advanced Warfighter will show all the servers when in multiplayer configuration. But when the game pc is behind a double natted config (instead of single nat) no game servers can be pinged--This happens even the first router(the one connected to the internet) is configured to have a dmz with an ip address of the second router. The simple step of the double nat (with a double ip change) fouls the packets and the second router drops them. (Even when port forwarding is set up in the second router with all the necessary ports opened and mapped to the ip of the game pc)

Why does ssl break?
