New Around Here
Hey everyone,

I hope I´m in the right section.
We have a fritzbox cable lan and wlan router in the basement. From it we I have a cable going to my room. The basement is to far away and I don´t get a good connection so I have installed an Access Point in my room. I connect all my wireless devices throught this Access Point.
Now I bought me a NAS and I want to connect it throught the network with my BRPlayer and my Laptop.
First of all, I don´t want my NAS appear in the general network of our house.

Right now I have an AP with only the one needed lanport. Its connected to the basement and I have internet.
I know that you can get AP with additional Lan Ports. I would like to get me one and than connect it to the basement as usual and connect my BRPlayer and the NAS to the AP throw the additional Lan Ports.
This way I should be able to connect Notebook and BRPlayer to the NAS, right? But What I don´t know is how the AP connects back to the network of our house. Will my NAS be visible to the general network, too or only in my seperate wlan I have build up in my room?

If its not working the way I discribed, any suggestion how to make it? I want a seperate Network with BRPlayer and NAS connected over lan cable and Notebook over Wlan and this network should get the Webconnection from the router in the basement. But my stuff like the NAS shouldn´t be visible for other ppl in the general network of our house.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards
Thorsten

Replace your AP with a router and connect your devices to it. All will be able to access the internet and also any other devices in the house (but you will need to connect by IP address).

The router firewall will keep other devices in the house from reaching all the devices connected to the router.
