Actiontec MI424-WR MoCA bridge and guest wifi

htpcdude

New Around Here
I have a MoCA bridge set up between two MI424-WRs behind a firewall (10.0.0.0/8 network). I have another interface on the firewall (192.168.1.0/24) connected to an AP for guest Wi-Fi.

Is it possible to add a 3rd MI424-WR to the MoCA network and have it act as an AP for the guest Wi-Fi, by patching the 192.168.1.0/24 ethernet connection from the firewall to an ethernet port on one of the other MI424-WRs?

I think I need to use VLANs but I am not sure how to go about this as I have not used VLANs before.

I want to go from Config A. to Config B. shown in the attachement.

Yes, you are right that this is into VLAN territory. And that makes this whole setup more expensive unless you've already got equipment that does VLANs.

Now, I'm not too sure if you can have multiple networks over MoCA, but that in effect could be a replacement for using VLANs.

Basically you have to keep the networks isolated so you don't have loops. If there is even a way to isolate the physical coax, you can run a separate set of MoCA adapters for the 192 subnet, using the LAN port of that gateway to the new AP.
