AdGuard VPN (IPSec/IKEv2) not possible as VPN client on Asuswrt-Merlin?

I'm considering buying AdGuard VPN (on sale) to run on a few devices (occasionally) and it would be nice if I could optionally also run it on my ASUS router (VPN client).

However, the documentation states AdGuard only supports IPSEC/IKEv2, so that's not possible on ASUS routers?

Asuswrt does not support IPSEC clients.
