Advantages of Merlin on an AP?

Hi,

I have an AC87U running on Merlin and it's fantastic!
I however also have an AC68U running as an AP only, what advantages do you think I might discover if I were to flash the AP to Merlin? I assume most of the additional features are switched off in AP mode.

Thanks!

since the AC68U uses the CPU to bridge wifi and wired you can overclock the CPU for better throughput. You can also set more management options and also run linux scripts or programs on the router itself. What you can do with merlin firmware isnt just what you see on the interface but also on the underlaying linux files such as teaming ports if you expect to handle more than 1Gb/s of wifi to wire traffic in 1 direction.

You can also use many of the usb options while in AP mode.
Many features disappear from the web interface when in AP mode but if you modify the files in the linux file system on the router you can enable and tweak the options that are available in the interface but with settings that you cannot input from the web interface.

I have a bunch of N16's and a few N66U's running as access points and I always go with 3rd party firmware. Having entware available is key and you can install and configure services though it offloading your main router for doing what it does best, routing.

Remember the '68 can't be overclocked if using updated bootloader.
Hi,

My AC68U runs fine with overclocking (1200,666) on the latest bootloader!

With kind regards

Something changed when I wasn't looking or I had a hole in my memory. Thanks for correcting me and not letting my bad info fly. Now I have another project. Guess I'm the one with the remember issue! :) Deleting the bad post...
